Good morning I am up laundry is started and I will be done in the laundry room in about an hour, if you need it.
Today I have a dr appt this afternoon so I cant start any major projects here,,,But i did clean out the closets in both my sewing room and Kens office....a trip down memory lane as I looked through a box with old newspaper articles dating back to the 60s...that for whatever reason I saved,,,and old high school year books and my sons baby book. I did the oldest son diligently and then the second son only a little and none on the third son,,,,11 yrs later Colleen graced us with her presence and I did one for her,,, so I carefully pack that all back up and stored it..I also washed and dried 27 hockey jerseys and shirts for Liams hockey quilt,,,he knows about it and is excitied,,,It wont be done till next year his senior year,,,as a graduation gift,,,I have time to analyse what I will do...( this is called analysis paralysis) I may be calling on your expertise as I have never done a shirt quilt...
I do have another box of paper to shred,,old credit card statements we saved before you had access to them on the internet,,and utility reciepts...why did I keep all this stuff I will never know....but now I must deal with it,,,
No sewing going on here,,,I am going to do a practise block on the hexigan quilt,,,it has Y seams and I need to see how that goes,,,my previous Y seams werent good so I will see how it goes...there are many embroidered blocks and I am doing a sample of thise as well.
well I need to get back to the laundry...hope you have a good day,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning, we are getting a bit of rain but looks like it should be over by mid day. I got caught in a down pour in Napa yesterday. I think the hard rain is over though.

Lori your quilt sounds like it will be quite pretty. I am not as a rule fond of Asian type fabrics but blue and white sounds nice. Thinking making something out of paper first could be a good idea. My Mother taught use to sew that way. She draw lines on paper and we had to follow them.

Tina sure was hoping the PT would help. But it may in time. PF is not the easiest thing to get over. Many people suffer for months with the pain. Maybe the therapist would have some insight into weather an xray may be of any use. Yes, DH picked out this pattern. He saw it hanging in the shop I bought my new machine in and had to have it. They gave me the class for free so I though why not. Well, I can now give you 112 reasons why not!

Maryq Sears did show up an hour late and then went and opened the dryer. As nicely as I could, I said, “that is the dryer, it’s the washer that is broke”. Then thought to myself, this isn’t going to go well. I have decided after my morning yesterday, I will get this fixed then cancel with warranty and start looking for a new washer. Hoping I can find one on sale as they are quite pricey. This one is 23 yrs old but has been a work horse. I hate to give it up but likely things will keep breaking as time goes on

Chriss yes, I have seen my last patient. They had me do a exit interview yesterday also. They asked if my circumstances changed, would I be willing to come back. I let them know that I really was retiring and if I did some day go back to work it would be at Walmart or something. I am not going to renew my CPR card or my license. There was only 2 areas of discontentment and I did let them know that. It was a nurse I was comfortable speaking with.

So where is everyone this morning? Maybe I am early. I did sleep a bit better last night but was up for a hour or so with heartburn. DH made turkey legs and I’ve no idea what he put on them but man oh man. He forgets what I can and cannot eat.

Oh good morning Judi, glad some one has joined me. I am going to start clean out next week. Will focus on a small area at a time so my back and knee holds up and I still have time to sew.

But for now, I am going to make some breakfast, pack my stuff for open sew and see what else I can get done, Will need to pack the car in between the rain. Have a great day everyone.

Good rainy morning,

We still have a very sick dog. He spent the day at the vet, got Sub-Q fluids and had blood drawn. His blood is all OK, no pancreatitis, though it does show that he doesn't process fats so we spent $100 on Rx Low Fat Royal Canin dry food (6#) and 6 cans of wet food. We used to think he was getting the most expensive dog food on the market, but apparently we were wrong. And he's got probiotics we're supposed to put into his food, but he won't eat. Just drinks water and vomits it up. He's very wobbly when he stands and just wants to stay in the garage. But I did get him to come in about 1am and he laid on a rug by our bed because he couldn't get onto his big round stuffed bed. I think a prayer to St. Anthony is in order. I will be calling the vet again today

LORI - was that the David Owen Hastings class you went to yesterday? Sequim (pronounced Squim for those not from around here) is about 80 miles north of us, on the Olympic Peninsula, on northern Puget Sound. And it's very pretty there and they have a great lavender festival every year, I think in May. And it usually has beautiful weather, while Port Angeles, another 15 miles up the road and on the strait, is cooler and very rainy. Does the new technique you learned have a name? It's fun to stretch your quilty wings and learn new stuff.

JANA - glad you had no extra excitement at your house. I think you must be getting our weather. It's a wet and windy week here. I hate appointments in the middle of the day, too. I want them early and done with. Our daffodils are all in bloom here. Tulips are up several inches and hyacinths are budded. Forsythia is in bloom and lilacs also have new leaves budding out. Spring is sort of here!

LYN - Sorry you had to get a new tire, but since you had the warranty, it's probably better than repairing the damaged one. Discount Tire is our tire place, too. You may not want to do an MC like Val, but you know, now that you are an official Texas resident, maybe you should consider doing a Lone Star quilt . . . Just trying to be helpful and inspiring . . :D There are some really pretty "Texas fabrics" down there.

VAL - I'm sorry for your patient that they had to go back to the hospital, but yay for you! I'm so excited for you to join the retirees club! Now you will REALLY be busy! What are the dates of your fishing trip? It will be nice to be able to concentrate on preparing for that with no distractions. Whatever happened to your DH's friend who was having surgery and wanted you to help him out for a week or so? Did you turn that down or is it further down the calendar? Glad your Sears guy finally showed up. I thought of you a couple days ago while I was lingering in Costco while Bill got his glasses repaired. They had a nice set of Maytags, nothing too fancy (just my style!) for $450 each unit. I almost wished I was in the market for them! I've had my Maytags for about 33 years (got them right after we got married). I'd do Maytags again - or Speed Queens.

CHRISS - was Dad there yesterday? Moose eats frogs?? Ugh! Perhaps he's looking for his Princess and gets carried away. Aren't some frogs poisonous? I've always said the same thing about beets - they taste like dirt! But pickled, they are OK.

MARY Q - Oh, I hope you don't have to start your baby girl quilt over again! I don't think I have a third one in me! Did you already add your borders? Maybe you could make them wider to enlarge the quilt? So what was yesterday like? What did you fill those bags with?

TINA - if you are worse after the PT, then maybe it's the wrong PT for your foot. I really am surprised that they would write orders for PT without XR's to confirm their diagnosis. You may have to up your squeaky wheel volume! Have your winds died down?

JUDI - I am loving the idea that someone else's sewing room might be as big a mess as mine! Are you cogitating that Tee shirt quilt? It's going to be a special quilt. I wish I was there to see it in person. Y seams aren't really too bad once you get into the swing of them. Practice on some scraps first. Good luck at dr appt today.

LOIS - Sew, what's happening in your room today?

We are chilly and rainy. I'm done with this but Mother Nature seems to have a little more left to throw at us. We have no plans and no appointments today. Unless we go back to the vet. And that's a distinct possibility if Scott doesn't show any improvement this morning. And so far he's not. In the meantime, between checking on him and giving him loves I guess I will work on NYB #29. I'm more than halfway! Dinner last night was meatloaf and baked potatoes. My record stands. I am a terrible meat loaf maker. Tonite I'm going to hack the leftovers up and put them in spaghetti sauce.

Waiting for sunshine . . .

Good morning everyone 🌞
Judi, I need to go through a bunch of papers in our filing cabinet.... I'm not looking forward to it and keep finding other things to fill my time with. I did our laundry yesterday so who is next in line 😃
Valerie, add another reason why not.... mine LOL but it's really gorgeous so maybe that trumps the 112 reasons why not ♥️
Maryz, gosh I sure hope Scotty is better soon. Did they xray his tummy?
I did tell the therapist about me not getting xrays to make sure it doesn't have a fracture or whatever and she shook her head too and said doctors....I will be getting them in about a month. She changed up some stuff yesterday to see if it'll help so we'll see, last night it didn't and hurt me through the night in bed but maybe it'll just take time off doing more stuff
Wind wind wind is starting bad bad bad today and we'll be going all day and night and all day tomorrow and I think through the night then too...... we're going to be staying inside. I'm really hoping for rain.
I hope you all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need 🙏
Tina

Good morning Girls

Get ready to open the windows!!! It's going to be 64 degrees here today!!! I might even grab a patio chair from the garage and sit out on the patio this afternoon!

Judi.... How fun to find all those treasures!! Shawn got a complete baby book, Jen's was pretty well done too, Kevin's has a lot of blank pages! When I was first pregnant with Shawn, I started writing a diary to him, filled one of those huge spiral notebooks and then some, Jen got one too, about 3/4 full, Kevin's had about maybe 50 pages. That poor last baby!!! The old news clipping must be fun to look at too. Somewhere around here I have the news paper from when the Challenger Space ship tragedy happened in 1986. I remember where I was when that happened--watching in happen on live TV coverage.

Valerie... I had to chuckle.... that your repair man didn't know the difference between the washer and the dryer. True, some of those older appliances just seem to last longer. So what are you going to do next week when you don't have to even Consider going to work? I wish I had been given the opportunity for an exit interview as I worked for the company for 15 years. Though I imagine nothing I said would have made any difference.

Maryz... Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry to hear that Scottie is so sick!! Not a good sign when they don't eat. And I so hope that's not in any pain, but I bet he has a tummy ache. I had thought of making wider borders, but any wider I figured it would take away from the pattern. It will match the baby's room so that's all that matters. This is the organization that Katie & I worked for. https://americorps.gov/ I didn't realize this was what it was when I helped Katie sew stuff. We both decided we aren't really wanting to get super involved but that we could sew stuff now and then. Yesterday I helped put together beads for a project for elementary school to teach kids kindness and friendship. Katie cut out little pieces of cardstock in the shape of bees. We'd rather be home sewing.

Tina.... Guess it's my turn to do laundry--tho I'm not in the mood today. Probably time to wash sheets too, but not in the mood for that either! I just want to play in my sewing room--which is a mess and needs some attention. Some where in there is a big cutting table but it's buried!

Chriss.... I think your Dad is wonderful too! Every time you mention your Dad, I think of mine and I smile. I have a picture of my Dad with my Sis and I on my fridge--along with a little post-it note he wrote to me. Dad passed in 2002 so you know how long I've had that note! It's signed "Love from Dad" and years ago Kris had a necklace made for me that has that in my Dad's signature! Dad's a great!! I consider myself lucky to have had one of the best. We didn't always agree (child of the 60's here) but I knew he loved me. I'm so glad that you have your Dad near by!!

Jana.... Found the autumn Dance pattern!!! Gosh that's pretty, I might have to print that out and hunt up some fabric.. Love free patterns!! I think it's one of those quilts that I'd really have to play close attention to--to get everything in the right places! Love the colors!

Time to get go get something accomplished ... kitchen needs the usual shine up, then I'm going to go tackle the mess in the sewing room before I start any other projects.
Have a wonderful day y'all

Good morning!

I here, finally! I got a load of laundry going, then bumped the off button, so had to restart that. Then my little entertainment, my vacuum got stuck, fixed that, the Mr G got out the portable pharmacy out for me to refill his meds for two weeks. And the kitchen awaits me! Oh, and my big silly mice, family joke, are in my yard, scurrying around doing their spring clean up. That's my yard care company.

It was a Tina wind day yesterday and all night. Now, the storm Maryz sent me has arrived and we should see snow in 30 minutes, according to the they! Glad the fod supply is up to date.

Sarah started setting up my new computer. What a chore! I'm so not in the mood to learn a new operating system. Matt will help too, and turn off and hide everything I don't vwant! Already hating turning the thing on, with a fingerprint!

So I will be in the Batt Cave, hiding from the world! I'll work and see if I can get the two blocks I have ready , done.

When it comes to doing baby books, I have a friend who did up her children's books like they were huge scrapbooks, long before scrapbooks were a thing! In the neighborhood of about 4 8nches thick, documenting everything! So with that example, I started one when Sarah was born, didn't get far and the other three got the bare bones written in a book. I'm a terrible scrapbooker! Not my thing! Gave away all the fancy supplies and use the tote case for something very useful, my featherweight sewing machine! Much better use of time, sewing!

Well, I've dily-daltaled , sorry can't spell, this morning, better become useful,

Hugs,
Jana

Update, snow was 10 minutes late

Judi, I came across scrap books from when my dad was a teenager the other day. It was dated 1947 and titled Boys Club sports. It was filled with news paper clippings about my dad and the young men he played sport with at the Boys Club in Richmond, CA. It was fun to look though. I pulled a few of the pictures of my dad. It's fun to see what they kept back in the day.

Lois, we still have a landline and cordless phone as well. Everything is connected to our landline over the years, so I don't want to give it up.

Jana, I always think using your fingerprint or facial scan as a way to activate things is not a good idea. I'll use a password everytime.

Maryq, you're warmer than us in SoCal today. It's only 50* at 1100. Love your baby quilt. It so sweet with the pretty hearts on it.

Tina, I would think you should be getting some relief by now with therapy. Sometimes you have to be more aggressive with doctors to make the do what they should be doing. They still are very dismissive with women and pain.

Maryz, yes it was the class with David. His class was called Indigo Modern. I always enjoy learning new things. I was hoping for better news about Mr. Scottie. You all have had a few bad days. Sending healing vibes your way. I don't make meatloaf at all, so yours is better than mine.

Valerie, I'm not a fan of Asian fabric either, but I do like Japanese fabrics that are indigo or look like Sashiko. The paper sewing was interesting and I might do it again when planning a new pattern. You should have told the repair guy, the washer is the one hooked up to the water.

Chriss, are you having an Elliott day?

I need to put everything away from my class yesterday. It was fun to do something different. We're still waiting for the rain to end so we can walk the boys. It should be done in an hour or so. I think I'll work on my OWL this afternoon, and take my embroidery when I visit dad.

Dinner will be orange chicken, rice, and zucchini.

Have a lovely day.

Good evening. Do you ever have one of those days where you want to crawl under a rock until it all goes away?

I have been having issues setting up my new phone so went into the phone store and after almost two hours the girl finally got the right person on the phone and it's now fixed. Why do people go into a customer service job if they aren't going to do customer service stuff?

I have a girlfriend who I really have a lot of fun with. She has Alzheimer's and has been having trouble with her doctors. So, today I went and got some paperwork from one of her doctors and took it to the other. I was going to do this for her on Friday but since I was in town I did it today. So I called her to tell her I took care of it and she's also in town and can't find her doctor for her appointment. She was so frazzled So I called her daughter. Then I called my friend back and suggested we go have lunch. After we were done eating she wasn't so frazzled then we got in our cars and she followed me home, I felt so bad for her. I really didn't want to go to lunch but I wanted her to be ok. I hate Alzheimer's and I hate cancer.

Woke up this morning and saw there was quite a bit of snow on the mountain outside my front window. It's less than 10 away minutes by car but the elevation is much higher. The town on the other side of that (Guadalupe) mountain is not in business today. My dentist called to tell me no one could get out of their homes and would be rescheduling all patients. So Mariposa is shut down and I save the money I was going to pay the dentist for a few days.

Today dad was supposed to be here to do a few things. But his sciatica is making him go see the chiropractor and he has treatments the rest of the week. I'm hoping to still go clean his house tomorrow but secretly I'm hoping that we can just skip this week.

Tina, my neighbor said he would do the weeds along the fence after the rain is done. Huge blessing. Sure hope that foot starts getting better, you've already had your share of worse. Funny, I went through a bunch of papers in our filing cabinet and was able to get rid of the filing cabinet.

Lori, yes, a torch. It's a can of propane with a flame thing on the end that can be adjusted. The tractor supply store was out of them so he mixed diesel and gas in a weed sprayer thing and that fire got going. It's all burned. Is your dad alert enough to look through the scrap book you found? No, not having an Elliott day. They are supposed to be here on the 22nd. There's a bit of stress on their end. Glad you liked your class, it does sound interesting.

Judi, Liam is going to love that quilt. Y seams intimidate me every time. There is a pattern in El's free patterns that uses Y seams, it's what works for me as far as learning them goes.

Valerie, so that's it. No more patients. yay you. Enjoy open sew, you can go to all of them now without any roadblocks. Every day is a Saturday for you.

Maryz, sure hope Scottie gets to feeling better soon. I'm having meatloaf tonight, mine will be with cauliflower rice and either green beans or broccoli. What do you put in your meatloaf?

Maryq, dad's really are the best. I'm so grateful for mine, this would have been a crap filled year without him. Seems taht mother nature has swapped our weather. I hate when she does that.

Jana, nice to have the laundry done. I snuck in there after Lois left and finished my one load.

Lois, nice to have the house cleaned. I picture your house as brick with a lot of steps, with black railing, going up to the front door which is white to match the shutters on the windows.

Ok, time to get the rest of my dinner going and plug in this new internet thing. Cross your fingers girls. Whiel I am eating I will read our weekly newspaper. I am no longer reading the news on the internet, it's frustrating me.

Tonight it's meatloaf. Tomorrow it's rotisserie chicken.

You all have a fun night,
chriss

I left early for the Shop Hop, only saw a couple posts. MaryZ, Sending prayers for Scottie.

I was trying to read and prep a post about 6 p.m., but got interrupted, so I will move it to tomorrow. I will try and finish reading before bedtime.
