Morning
Finally finished a teddy bear I like. First attempt total fail. Bought new pattern & made second out of old jeans...first one so bad the 2 yr old that comes over wouldn't play with it. My goal is to make my kuds bears with their grandfather's hawaiin shirts. Reached out to Lyn to post pic.
Today kids coming over for bbq.

Good Morning So nice of your to make bears My younger sister makes memory bears but she never made any of my dads stuff. I dont even know what became of my dads clothing,,,my mom probably ditched it all she was notorious for throwing everything away,
We are enjoying the weather here, The temps will be 80 today...Im still staying out of the pool with the head cold I have had for 2 weeks/ there are no urgent cares here and I dont think this warrents a ER visit but I have been doctoring it for 2 weeks.
I did some embroidery last night just for fun,,,everyone watches crazy stuff on tv and i cant get into it...so I stitch.
Hope you all have a great day, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Re: Monday Mar 3,2025
Good morning,
We're to be 52* and cloudy today. Not too bad for early March.
FLO - Good for you for sticking with the bears! I bet that denim one is cute and being a lover of Hawaiian prints, I know those will be amazing and unique and treasured! So nice of you to do that!
JUDI - sorry TV isn't to your liking. How many TV's does your house have? But have to admit, if you don't watch TV, it gives you more time to read and stitch.
TINA - haha! Frankie vacuumed because he was bored? Same thing happened here! Twice in a week! It was the rain here, not the wind. Finally, Mother Nature is working WITH us! A real bummer you can't even get any XR's. I got XR's yesterday just by walking in with my chiropractor's order in my hand. No appt necessary. Maybe you need to be a squeaky wheel with your doctor. Also, make sure you are on cancellation lists. Or go to an ER in Cruces and tell them you suspect a fracture.
LORI - I'm so sorry your dad is going through all this. I pray things improve for you both. And yes, the friend I lost, Esther, was one of the elderly ladies I took to lunch. She was the "young" one at 87. She passed away while we were in Texas. We met at a widow's support group when I was 38 and she was 52. We held hands during the meeting, then went to her house afterward and bonded over a whole box of Kleenex and tuna fish sandwiches. We were close friends from that day on. It was years before she realized I hate tuna! lol! Turns out we had mutual friends including my own brother, Jim! We both ended up marrying again, took RV trips together, and even flew to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico for a week once. Her second hubby died 5 years ago. They were our cribbage friends and we played cards often. I really miss them both. Thanks for asking and for letting me talk about my beautiful friend
.
CHRISS - You had some stressful times with Jerry's illness. I'm so sorry for that. You and your Ex used to cater?? Was he a cook? A bummer you can't get over to see Elliott. But face-time is a nice compromise. I'm sure he misses you. He's almost 6 months old now - old enough to know and remember you!
Enchilada's with an egg on top - is that a "thing" or is that just what you do? Other than you, I"ve never heard of that before. Though, Mexican food isn't as big here as it probably is in your area. Oh, and I bandy the term "spring cleaning" about with careless abandon. What it really means is I go the extra mile and vacuum under the sofa cushions and clean the dead flies out of the souvenir wine glasses I have displayed on windowsills. lol!
LOIS - I hope your dr appts were simply routine. I checked out your butterfly pillow project. So pretty!
MARY Q - did you finish your baby girl quilt? You mentioned a few days ago working on it. And yes, our kids are going brand new all the way - fiver and 1-ton duelly RAM pick-up. The model RV they are getting has a small office area at the rear of the trailer. They are in VA now but the cheapest dealer they found is here in Tacoma so they are having their household goods shipped to us. We will store it all in our shop until they arrive and take possession of the trailer. We may even haul their new trailer home to our property if their truck isn't ready yet. Now to figure out where to park their rig so we can still get ours in and out if we want . . . As to how long they will stay "on the road" is a good guess. We know people who lived this way for a dozen years and love it, and we know folks who took one trip and said, "it's not for us!". And I'm almost ashamed to say we not only have 25 yr old floral couches in our living room, we have wallpaper, too! In the dining half of our living/dining room. Also, our bedroom, master bath, and downstairs hallway. And I still love it all. So it's staying. But the couches do have to go one day soon.
VAL - Paper piecing can be confusing! But I still love it - which gives you insight into my warped mind I suppose. I had to laugh at what your Skip said about paper piecing! Now as I'm getting more accustomed to the process, I'd like to try a SMALL Judi Neimeier pattern. But I need to finish my NYB first - and probably will need some "recovery" time! lol! So I thought Skip was the person who sold you your new machine and is giving you lessons on how to use it. What kind of book did APQ send you? I never received one. Years ago I had a similar issue with them (I think it was them) about my subscription so in frustration I finally wrote a letter to the editor, Beth Hayes, and marked it "personal" to ensure she would receive it. I explained the problem, asked her if she had monkeys working there and if not, maybe she should consider them. My problem was solved immediately.
LYN - that's interesting about how Air BNB's got started. And no - a good mother-in-law will let the kids learn for themselves. Though Lee is talking RV's a lot with Bill as their new life chapter is getting closer. Bill shares stories of our own woes and let's Lee make of that what he will. But they are having fun making all their plans. They'll figure it all out. And maybe they will luck out and get one of those repair-free RV's.
JANA - our weather folks have used the term "meteorological (insert season here)" for a few years now. Not sure why. But when they say the word "spring" it makes us all hopeful! So hearing it 3 weeks earlier than regular spring is nice! It will be nice if you get Sandee's loveseat as she rearranges her furniture. But what happens if she later arranges her furniture back?? Will you have to return the loveseat? Is the apartment downstairs in her house finished yet? Have her brother and sister moved in?
JUDI - your time in FL sounds like so much fun! Glad you are soaking up some of that Vit D. My doctor says most of the population is low on it and it affects the mood. I had one dr who prescribed 5,000 units per day for me. My next dr was concerned at that high does, checked my levels, and I was still low! I've seen yoyo coverlets and even one hung on a wall in Alaska where they are just tacked together (little gaps between them). Not sewn onto fabric. Pretty but delicate. Autumn saw my yoyo quilt when I did my class at the library and dibs it! Part of me hated to give it up but a bigger part of me was thrilled she actually asked if she could have it!
I never got to my cleaning yesterday. We went to Costco for "a few things". I came home with two pre=planted pots of begonias (just add water!). And we found a Bluey Play Set for Amara's birthday. It was the last one they had so we grabbed it - $60. But then at home got to thinking of postage to mail it - it's in a BIG box for presentation. So we went on line, ordered it for same price, free shipping, and it will be on Amara's doorstep in 3 days. So we'll return the one we bought. And Bill got some wine we'd never tried before and we took it over to Doyle and Susie's to taste. Doyle had smoked some cheese, and we had a pleasant visit with them, tasting our wine and his cheese. So I didn't get any cleaning done but I did find an hour to sew and finished #20 and prepped #21.
Today I WILL clean my dining room and maybe more! If the afternoon is warm enough, I might do a little yard work. Or not. And of course, there will be some sewing. Supper will be BBQ'd burgers, fries in the airfryer, and a salad.
Happy today!

Good morning!
Cloudy and rainy. Thanks Chriss for sharing. I send it along too, for Tina.
Sandee's brother and sister have moved in. Several months ago. The small apartment in the basement that Daniel has built is down to the final stages. Sandee's brother, Tommy, will move all his stuff down there. He's a very big guy and can eat normal food. Sandee and her sister, Becky are extremely gluten intolerant. So they are creating the main floor for them and everything with be gluten free. Tommy doesn't pay attention, at all, and cross contaminates all the time and the girls get very sick. It's not really a good situation, but it is what it is. Sad. The loveseat will not go back, as Sandee is making it difficult for Tommy to be able to cross contaminate upstairs, he's too big to fit on the loveseat.
Not much today. A bit of straightening and a small bit of laundry. Then sewing!
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning everyone
Flo, the bears will be loved so much
Judi, I've noticed some crazy things on tv, LOL wonder if we think the same things are crazy.
Maryz, Bluey is Elijah's favorite
I'm so sorry for your loss, Esther sounds like she really enjoyed life, I love your stories about her and you. I don't think I'll be going to an ER unless I'm thinking it's my last circle around the drain, my last ER visit and what came after cost us 10k out of pocket and I'm still paying on that and will be for quite a while. We do fried eggs on red enchiladas here too, it's just a regular thing here....if the red is hot then the egg takes some of the heat away.
Jana, thank you so much for sending the rain here, I'll be waiting for it's arrival. Enjoy your sewing!
Frankie has a dentist appointment, I'll be his chauffeur because I need to go pick up a few things at the grocery store. It's going to be nasty windy here today and we have a dust advisory with zero visibility till 7pm so I'm going early before that hits.
Well I better finish getting ready to leave. You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need
Tina

Slept in til 9. Cloudy and windy.
I have posted Flo's Super Cute Bear.
Someone asked what quilt kits I bought. Transom by Bear Hug Quiltworks and Water Lily by Deb Tucker. I have the rulers she uses, bought them in 2019 at the Houston Quilt Show.
The gospel jam was nice. I'm not good at just sitting there, listening, so I took my new hexi's and started making them. There out of 30's Playtime by Moda.
The park has a book and DVD exchange or just help yourself. I was interested in author Kristin Hannah and Magic Hour was on the shelf, so I will give it a read. Also picked up The Cross Country Quilters, which I have read before, a Keto Bread cookbook and J.D. Vance's book. Since he's our VP, I thought I should see what his book is about. Garry might read it, too.
Today will be laundry and go through some paperwork day.
Enjoy your day.
Lyn

Re: Monday Mar 3,2025
Good Morning Y'all!
Do I dare hope that spring is really on the way here? We may hit 52 today and it's so sunny and nice. I just might get out to the garage this afternoon when it warms up and see what kind of mess I've actually made over the winter! It will involve pulling the car out and having room to work!!
Flo... I saw your little bear... so cute! Are you going to make a bunch of them? I bet it gets hard to sew on the thick denim.
Judi... Looking back now I wish I'd kept some of my dad's things. We cleaned out his closet pretty quickly and looking back too, I regret that we did it so fast and didn't give my Mom the opportunity to grieve. You know how each person has their own "flavor"--I loved my Dad's flavor and kept one of his sweatshirts for a long time just to have that smell. Aren't you heading home this week? Maybe by the time you get home it will be spring in Michigan!
Maryz... Baby girl quilt is not done. But after seeing baby's room yesterday it just doesn't "go" at all and I'm going to start over. I might not get it finished for the baby shower on April 5th, but should be able to get it done when she is born. Meaghan will likely be induced as she has been on Lovenox all pregnancy and they want to stop that far enough ahead of time and not have her going through delivery while on it. It's a blood thinner as she is susceptible to blood clots. When are Lee and Lara retiring? This summer? Hope you get the cleaning done you want to do today--I've been saying that for the last week! Not sure today will even be that day!!!
Jana... I never knew cross contamination was such a thing until my BFF came to visit and needed me to buy a new toaster --afraid of contamination from mine (no big deal, toasters are relatively cheap) Turns out she didn't have celiac at all and was misdiagnosed. Hope all goes well for Sandee with "guests" It's hard to live with other folks on a permanent basis--hence I will never have a "roommate" again--even if I could in my little house.
Tina... Holy Crap!!! That was some expensive ER visit!!!
Lyn... You slept until 9!!?? Lucky you! I was awake at 7, had a few weird dreams and decided to get up about 8, but was bummed when I realized I hadn't pre set the coffee pot, so I had to actually wait for my coffee this morning.
Well, I suppose I better get to work. It's looks like a sweat shop around here with fabric and sewing machines all over the place.! My ADD has kicked in very badly. I've googled patterns to make sleep sacks for baby girl, and well just about anything I can think of. I have several little NICU shirts in process and need to finish those up too! Definitely am going to need a whole pot of coffee too. I'm running out of white thread, so you know I've been busy!! (two Joann stores had none!)
Wishing you all a Marvelous Monday

Re: Monday Mar 3,2025
Good morning. It's going to be a chilly but nice day today. It's Marilyn's 22nd birthday.
Yesterday I got most of my Kiss quilt put together. Only have the outer border to cut and sew. The fabric has to be cut and mitered in the corners. I'm not great at this kind of stuff so it will be what it is. This kit came with three, yes, three panels. lots of baby animals, some with their moms, I could have either made First Kiss or You Are Loved. I could easily put one on the front and have more than enough to add to the back. Anyway, I hope to have it finished this week so I can start quilting it.
Today I will go get the soil for my garden. It's early to prepare the beds but the soil is on sale. It's not supposed to rain today, but March seems to be a rainy month so I will just stack the bags of soil in the garage.
Lori, I had trouble with my hospice people at first. I had them give me a copy of their calendar. I was told the time frames weren't exact because a lot depended on how long the previous patient took, but I was also able to tell them what worked best for us. I had them come before noon and after 9. Perhaps something like that would be doable for you? We had 3 different people coming in each week. Perhaps the facility could also let you know when someone was there to see your dad. Or, maybe you could just go smack each one of them upside the head and kick them in the butt.
Flo, that is the cutest bear ever. And what good use for those grandpa shirts. great idea.
Judi, there certainly is a lot of crazy stuff on tv. Sure hope that cold goes away, have you picked up many shells? Hope this week lasts a long time for you.
Maryz, If only I had known you were going to Costco. Perhaps I will brave the crowds this week, I really only need a bag of mixed nuts. Amara will be excited to get a package in the mail. Yes, my ex was an amazing cook. Jerry, while a good cook, was excellent at baking. kind of a win, win for me but not for my waist line. OH, so spring cleaning means just a couple of extras in the routine. Then my spring cleaning is done.
Jana, it will be raining here throughout the month so I will continue to share with you. You're very welcome. I didn't realize how restrictive a gluten allergy can be. Does that mean that Sandee can't go to a restaurant?
Tina, I am going to have enchiladas and eggs again today, so yummy. I also have a dentist appointment coming up, I best see when it is.
Lyn, just googled both of your quilt kits, beautiful. Lately I've been sleeping in a little. I like to get up by 6 but today it was 6:30. I bet the gospel jam hexi combo was a lot of fun.
Maryq, don't you wonder why strange dreams happen? I rarely remember my dreams but when one is really strange I sure do.
I believe I will start my day. dinner tonight will be taco salad.
You all have a fun day.
Chriss

Re: Monday Mar 3,2025
Good morning ladies, well the decision is made, my last day of work will be 3/14/25. I am done, really struggled to get through my patient this morning with trying to breath, crawl around on the floor, etc. I just can't do it anymore. My patient told me I should retire! Yep, he is right, so I came right home and sent in my letter of resignation!
Chriss yes you said thank you about 100 times! I am glad I could be of some help. Hospice is my first love for nursing and I wish I didn't have to give it up. But if I don't, I will need hospice! Our Costco only carries the higher fat hamburger and I just can't deal with that. I should check the one in Napa. Have you posted pictures yet of your Kiss quilt? We have had little to no rain here.
Maryz I am getting the gist of PP now but making stupid mistakes so I am taking a break and trying to get the log cabin parts cut before the class. After this MC, I have decided the NYB is a breeze! Skip is the person who sold me the machine, he is also part owner in the Dixon shop. He is also quite the quilter. I have seen some of the quilts he has done, if I ever get half that good I will be happy. APQ sent me a book called cherished quilts. I may have to try your letter advice. I have some old magazine I can look and see if she is still the editor.
Flo love the idea of your Teddy Bears. I will have to go look at the picture.
Judi I am still trying to figure out what to do with Dad's clothes. Some of his warmer shirts I can over my clothes as a light jacket. A lot of his stuff though is made for handicapped. Many pieces still never worn. The They snap at the shoulders so they are easy to put on and take off. He had difficulty with stiffness in his shoulders so they were a big help to get him dressed. Some of his flannel shirts have seemed to have disappeared. I thnk I know where they went, but will keep my mouth shut.
Jana my daughter in law has Celiac disease and is also very gluten intolerant. We have to be very careful when they come to visit. She even has her own toaster here. Butter is separate as especially with toast, crumbs can get on the knife and that is all it takes for her to get sick.
Tina I guess Bluey is all the rage now. JoJo knew nothing about Bluey until his hospitalization and that is the main show they for the kids on their kid TV's. So he really likes Bluey too. Can you send the rain here when you get done? We never got ours.
Lyn I watched the movie which is based on the book. It is his life growing up mostly. His mother was a drug addict. His father left when he was young. I remember at the inauguration his mother was there and they said she had been clean for only 8 years. His grandmother did a lot of raising him. Regardless of politics it's quite the feel good story. Not many kids in his situation grow up to be VP.
Maryq I find it a bit scarey to think of a pregnant women on Lovenox through her pregnancy. I assume they are watching her closely. Sorry you have to start the baby quilt all over. I don't think I will Xavier's done for his birthday, probably Christmas.
Lori thoughts are with you as you meet this new challenge. I will be thinking of you.
Well,I still have fabric to cut for class tonight. Best get to getting.
Have a great day.

Re: Monday Mar 3,2025
Flo, did you have a nice BBQ with the kids? The bear is cute. You'll get the hang of it I'm sure.
Judi, bummer you still have a cold. Are you sure it's not allergies? Enjoy your beautiful weather.
Maryz, It's hard to lose friends that have been around that long. They are our extended family. Funny about the tuna sandwiches. I bet you both laughed about that many times. I've bought things and then realized how expensive it is to ship and then ordered it and shipped directly too.
Jana, well that doesn't sound like the ideal situation if he's not careful about cross contamination. That could be bad for Sandee. Will he have a kitchen are in the basement?
Maryq, I read that they closed all the Joann's and are just selling online until they run out of stuff.
It's sad to see them go. I didn't buy fabric there, but did get other things.
Chriss, that sounds like such a cute quilt. Can't wait to see it. And I like your idea of a smack up side the head. lol Taco salad sounds yummy. Maybe later this week for us.
Lyn, sounds like you have a good selection of books and quilt kits to keep you busy.
Valerie, when it's time, you know. I wish I had you as the hospice nurse for my dad.
I bought a quilt kit yesterday. It's "Echinacea" by Anna Maria Parry. I keep pulling it up and decided to just buy it. Don't know when I'll get to it and the other ones I bought last year, but I'll get to it eventually. And if not, someone else will. Dad's regular nurse and the social worker showed up today. We had a discussion about the last few days, and they agree that he needs more pain meds. He's having break though pain that wakes him out of a dead sleep yelling he's hurting. I washed a quilt spring quilt today and will take it over and trade out the red and white one he has on his bed. I found another spring quilt at his house today that I forgot I made. I like and will bring it to my house. Dinner was chili.
Sleep well my friends.
