Maryq yes, we use morphine more for respiratory problems than for pain. Generally speaking for pain, depending on the diagnosis, doctors will start with non narcotics. There is a concern with opiates these days.Even in hospice, people don't want to be accused of over medicating. It's a fine line to walk in hospice. And it's not unusual for families to refuse to give morphine. Then the whole teaching cycle begins again. I do not recall there being dissolvable forms of morphine anymore. Usually, we will use immediate release or liquid concentrate. But with most things, all people are different and have different needs, and hospices usually have a standard that they follow.
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!

Good morning. Here we go, another wonderful day. Wet and soggy but wonderful.

Yesterday Moose and I got all the floors swept and mopped. He likes to chase the mop, goofball dog. And I cleaned the dryer vent. Nice to mark that off of my list.

Last night working at the enchilada feed was fun. My pay, two enchiladas. I also bought two and a chicken pot pie. They offer pot pies for those who aren't fans of enchiladas. People took so many enchilada's home, it's quite a fund raiser. My breakfast will be enchiladas and eggs.

Today, I am going to spend this wet day in my sewing room. I can't do yard work and I have no place to go. I might do a load of laundry but need to see if Lois is hogging the washer and dryer first.

This laptop I bought, and really like, has one thing that I have got to get used to. The home and end keys are in a different position than my old laptop. I didn't realize how much I used those keys.

Lyn, glad you found some treasures in that quilt shop. Funny how easily people divulge information, that quilt shop lady really told you her story. Hope that potty stays in working order for you. How was dinner? Funny about the rv's all having something wrong with them. My dad has an airstream that they haven't used in so many years. He brought it home so he could do something to it, not sure what, but he's still working on it.

Valerie, I read what you wrote to Lori and it reminded me of how much I appreciated the info you had for me on Hospice. Not sure I ever said thank you, so thank you. I get hamburger at Costco, it's still $4.99 a pound and I package it up in smaller portions, but in the grocery store it is $8 a pound here too. We don't have a Safeway here, we do have a lot of options for grocery shopping, some better than others. The problem we had with morphine is that it reacted with Jerry's Dilantin for his epilepsy. Between the chemo, morphine and Dilantin he thought I was out to kill him and had some crazy episodes. Thankfully the hospice people realized it was a drug interraction and didn't take me to jail. That was very scarry for me.

Lori, we also had a 20 degree drop in temperature and it rained through the night and will continue most all day. I love this weather but like my almost 70 degree sunshine too. Hope you get hospice and dad squared away.

Maryz, I don't really do spring cleaning. Maybe I should, but I'm pretty much a vac and dust as needed girl. You are really moving along on those quilt blocks. The enchilada feed is quite a production. Early in the morning a group of volunteers comes in to make the enchilada's. one table is used to fill the enchiladas in a tray, then when your tray of trays if full it goes to the sauce, cheese and olive section then the cover it with foil section and into the fridge for cooking later that night. They also make chicken pot pies. Their refrigerator is an insulated room maybe 8 foot by 4 foot and it is like a walk in fridge. they put the tray of enchilada trays on these shelves, then they take those trays and put them in the oven to cook for the feed. It's really amazing. They also have coleslaw, beans and bread. They have so many helpers and they all work together really well. The kids from the 4H serve punch, coffee or water and clear and set the tables.

Jana, drat, I missed feeding time. guess I'm on my own. I have noticed how many people can't count back change. They also dont understand what to do if you give them 2 cents in a total that ends in 12 cents. That really throws them off. hope the music today is some of the old stuff you are used to doing.

Judi, do you have family that live in the area where you are vacationing or do you just all vacation in that area? what fun to hook up with family and catch up.

Maryq, not sure when Elliott day will be next. The kids are so busy with work and I'm down to facetime every so often. I'll be back to see him but this month is kind of full. My ex husband and I used to cater, mostly for fund raisers, I loved it. When Jerry was on Hospice he had more morphine and other drugs than he could use. When he went into the board and care I had a shoe box full of meds that I took in with him. I also got the free APQ book, I wrote "refused" on the packaging and sent it back. when my subscription of APQ runs out in Feb I won't resubscribe. There are so many free patterns on the internet.

Tina, I also have bad soil, lots of clay. I was going to go buy soil for my vegetable beds today but with this rain I will wait until tomorrow. It's on sale, 2 cu ft bags for $10. buy three get one free. woo hoo.

Lois, I love that pillow talk butterfly too. hoping the doctor appointments are just routine. Doesnt' it feel good to get rid of the excess. I need to get some contractor bags, I have a lot of stuff in my breezeway that needs to go to the dump.

I guess it's finally time for my enchilada's and eggs. Dinner will probably be something with the hamburger I have thawing. Not sure what yet but something.

You all have a marvy day,
Chriss

Valerie, you'll get the hang of that block eventually. Yes, I do know I can change hospice and have looked at a few. I'll call the admin tomorrow before making a decision on that.

Chriss, so how was your breakfast? It sounds yummy. Hope you are enjoying your day sewing.

Maryq, Yes, I can change hospice companies and just might do that. They agreed to up the dosage of fentanyl patch since the first dosage made no difference. I understand the opioid situation, but hospice is for help end the suffering and so far they are not.

Judi, you'll have enough yoyo's for a quilt soon. How big are you making it? They are very heavy. My friend made a king size and it's really heavy.

Jana, they did that for winter also. They said winter started on December 1st. I've never heard of that before. Don't know if it's a new thing or something they just never talk about.

Maryz, sorry about your friend. Was this one of the ladies you take out to lunch once in a while? I need to clean out my fridge. Did you get some sewing time in?

Well I went to see my dad early thinking I would have the afternoon free. Didn't turn out that way. He was having a bad day and we couldn't easy his pain with anything. So I called out the hospice people again. They showed up without calling me, even though I was very clear they needed to tell me when they would be there. Just one of the issues. Anyway, 3 hours later and hopefully they'll get his pain under control. So now I'm going to go clean out the fridge. Don't know what's for dinner, but I'm sure I'll find something as I'm cleaning.

Have a lovely evening.

Chriss, your enchilada feed sounds very yummy. And look at you getting all that rain, lucky you! You can share, I'll let you 😁
Lois, you'll have a nice clutter free room in no time.
Lori, sorry you and your dad are going through this, it's got to be so frustrating for you. I know it's so hard to see our Dad's in such pain πŸ’” hugs πŸ«‚
Frankie got so bored being inside out of the wind that after his 4th nap πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ he vacuumed!
