Re: Tuesday, Feb 4
Maryz, it might not be smoggy in Bakersfield because of the storm coming through. Hope the winds aren't too bad coming across the dessert. The later in the day, the worse they get. Sure hope you can get back to your normal time zone. I know it's harder with the furry kids.
Judi, I have scissors all over the house for Bill to use, plus he has his own in the garage. And yet sometimes he can't find them either. It's called temporary male blindness. When an object is where it's supposed to be right in front of them and they can't see it. If he can't find something my response is "oh well." haha
Lois, feel better.
Lyn, I think squirrels will eat anything. I call them tree rats with a fluffy tail.
Tina, giving the dogs a bath is a big job. I bet you need a day off. We found a groomer again. Hopefully this one doesn't go out of business. We had some warm days and they were wonderful. Back to cool again.
Jana, the wind in Utah is crazy. Batten down the hatches.
Maryq, I wonder if you ask Alexa to give you an adjective to describe the weather, what do you think she would say?
Valerie, OH NO! Falling is not allowed.
Chriss, what's on your agenda today?
It's cloudy and cool today. Hopefully we'll get some rain later. I need to finish up quilting a quilt and finding binding for it. I'm determined to get these quilts done, and out of my house.
Late lunch instead of dinner tonight.
Have a lovely day.

Re: Tuesday, Feb 4
Good morning. It's going to be a blustery day today. We are supposed to see rain this afternoon. I hope it gets good and wet.
Yesterday I went to the UPS store and had them pack and ship a package. They do a good job of protecting the item being shipped. First time I have ever done this so it was unusual for me, but it's working. The item is on it's way. When I was done there I hit the thrift store and came home. I bought two tops that I didn't really need. I always look at the armpits of clothing to see if there are rips and stains, I have saved money more than once by doing that.
When I got home I just took a nap, very unusual for me. I'm still not feeling great, I want to get something done around here so I can go sew. I'd like to add that sashing today.
I'm getting anxious about filing taxes this year. Hoping I have all the paperwork soon so I can just get it done and over with. Next year things will be calmer.
Lori, I need to do some cleaning here too. I'd like to empty and wipe out the cupboards and drawers. I have the same feeling about when the time comes to go through my dad's house. It would be so helpful if they would go through things now. I think it will be a very long process to go through all the stuff. It's why I am going through my house now so my kids don't have as much to deal with later.
Maryz, hoping the weather is in your favor. Bakersfield is a town I'd like to explore and is only 2 1/2 miles south of me but I probably won't go. There is a lot to see there. I haven't read a cozy mystery in a long time. I should get some. they do make me chuckle too.
Judi, Nice to get to help DIL and to spend a few hours just the two of you. Glad Ken had the scissor lesson, hope he can pass the test.
Lois, thank Bill for the both of us, I have it too. hope you feel better soon.
Lyn, Sorry the cabin is on hold, hoping that soon things will get moving. I'm in for meatloaf. It sounds like a cozy meal. I love cardinals but we don't have them here. I don't think squirrels are picky at all. They will eat whatever they find, no matter what the label on the bag says. The other day I bought a bag of mixed nuts and the warning on the label said that the product may contain items grown on nut trees. Hmm, I wonder, those with nut allergies are also allergic to peanuts. Peanuts are really a legume (bean) Wouldn't they also be allergic to beans as well as cashews? But as usual, I digress, ha ha.
Tina, your stories of Jazmyne coming home from school and talking nonstop makes me smile. You two are making great memories together. She is blessed to have you be her grandma. Hmmm, chicken something. Google crack chicken, it's amazing. Our fruit trees bloom and freeze too. I will say, this year, if those stinking trees don't produce fruit, they are gone. I'm not watering a tree that doesn't do what it is supposed to do.
Jana, oooohhhh, high five girl eliminating 5 stop lights. And we all know each light turns red so you can stop and admire it. When my dad is stuck at a red light he often waves his arms and says, Hey, I'm over here, I'm ready to go. I laugh every time. The wind just started picking up here. We are supposed to see rain this afternoon. But so far the sky is a beautiful blue with white clouds.
Maryq, funny how we all have our morning routines. I start with my email, play the NY Times free puzzle games, read FB then the news and come here. The news headlines on my computer are kind of frustrating with all the "may" or "might" No real facts just a lot of this or that could perhaps happen. Hope you do get your quilt group together and have fun with it.
Flo, prayers for DS1 and his surgeon.
Valerie, we are supposed to see rain about 2pm. I'm not convinced. I do hear the wind chimes and see the trees moving frantically. If I look out the living window (Eastish) the sky is a pretty blue with white clouds. I just went and looked out the kitchen window (Westish) and it's the same. The darkest sky is in the North but right now the weather outside is 58*, perhaps I will open a window. Sorry you fell, hoping the aches go away with the Ibu and don't come back.
I've been reading the books that came with my car. Somehow I clicked on something that gives me the weather for Raliegh NC instead of my area. I need to figure out how to fix that. I also learned that because I have a camera that alerts me when something is in my blind spot I have to turn it off before going through a car wash. Who knew. Wonder if my car will do my laundry?
Anyway, nothing is thawed out for dinner so it will be another salad or a turkey sandwich. I will boil some eggs today. Costco didn't have the already boiled peeled eggs so I have to go back to the pioneer days and do it myself. Think I will go have something for breakfast and start my day.
You all have a fab day

I had a hard time finding the Community today - too long since I’ve been here and an aging brain!
Ordered some of the Endurance blades from the daily QIAD emails.
I’ll spend some time catching up on you all!

Valerie, so sorry you fell, I hope you're ok.
Lori, it is a big job giving the furkids baths and haircuts but during COVID groomers started charging a crazy amount and my groomer got COVID and it affected her heart and she had to retire. I used to take ours in every 2 to 3 weeks and it was only $35 total for the both of them, now I can only take them 6 times a year and it's the same cost as about 22 times a year before. So these will be our last ones, furkids are more of a luxury with their grooming and vet costs these days to us.... it's sadness. Who are the quilts for?
Chriss, we had to start having our taxes done by a CPA.....and I went to college to specifically do taxes LOL, it's because of our solar, that paperwork is beyond me and when I start getting SS in 2 years it's going to be even more complicated....oh joy....not! LOL
I hope you get to feeling better soon. I wish my dad would get rid of stuff too, we only made a little dent in it when we went through and cleaned last year..... he's probably collected more since then. I think Frankie's pecan trees should be old enough to produce this year
Ann, hi! I hope you're doing good.
I decided on the sweet and spicy chicken and veggies over rice for supper.
I forgot I have to do the checkbook and pay bills today so after this load of laundry that's what I'll be doing.
