Good morning

51* here this morning and going to 62* later today. Ma Nature is teasing us before she lowers the bottom of the thermometer on Monday. But I'll take it! It's our last day of babysitting our little Kumquat. And we will want to get her outside.

JUDI - did you make any more progress on your quilt? And do you know what you want to do after you finish this one?

LOIS - I prefer to choose my irons in person, too, though stores just aren't carrying the selection you can find on line. Right now I have 4 working irons - my little Sunbeam travel iron, my Durathon at home, a Black & Decker Classic (like Mom's old one) in the laundry room, and then Bill found a great Amazon deal so he got me an extra iron for Christmas - a Black and Decker but a new style. I haven't even tried that one yet, but did take it to library for one of the ironing stations during my class. So I think I'm set on irons for a while! But I still like to hear all the details about everyone else's iron shopping. And no, I don't think I'm faster than anyone else here, I just put in a lot more hours at the sewing machine than most of us have time for. I truly am a hopeless addict.

FLO - my nephew (actually my niece's DH) had that same port. His transplant surgery was about 11 days ago now. He had to go back to the hospital and get IV's because he wasn't drinking enough water. Water is critical. Keep on your son about that.

VAL - Maybe when you retire completely you will sleep better. Or at least your mind will be full of quilting rather than patients, charts, and classes! And by all means, start planning your trip now! It's fun! You deserve fun! And I know that some hotel/motel chains offer club discounts like KOA, Good Sam, etc. Two of my kids belong to them. You might look into those. And there is an app you might want to consider that lists all the LQS's in the country. I had that app, but when I just now looked at my phone, I see it's not there anymore. I wonder where it went . . . . .

TINA - your placemats are wonderful! Fun and whimsical. They will look great on your table. What's up next in your sewing room?

LYN - that's interesting about the Loophole Coffee. Never heard of it. How many cups a day do you drink? I think drinking lemon water or even vinegar water is supposed to be a plateau breaker for dieters. I like my coffee with plain powdered Coffeemate. But only 2 cups a day, if that. Not sure I could handle the Loophole version. How is Garry? Still sick? I know you generously offered to come help teach my last quilting class and I was looking forward to that, but you probably need to stay home to take care of him. I understand. Did you get his meds? That winery - Flat Creek Estate Winery - is really out in the beautiful boonies. And coming from WA which is pretty renowned for its wines, I wasn't expecting much. But their wines were really good! Even varietals we don't usually care for amazed us. Expensive, but very good. We had a long leisurely lunch, sat outside on their bistro patio and even had Scottie with us at the table. If you are looking for a nearby fun thing to do (if you like wine tasting, that is) we highly recommend going there. Take friends!

LORI - having kids with a lovely vacation house is a smart idea! Good for you! I hope you get to help them enjoy it. Most of WA's wineries are dog friendly, too. We were good with Scottie laying quietly at our feet until he noticed the ceiling fans. For some reason he has always, since he was a puppy, gone berzerk when he sees a ceiling fan moving. Even if they are still he gives them the evil eye and growls at them. It's funny. Unless you are at a winery or outdoor restaurant! lol!

JANA - let me be the first to wish you happy 50th! It's going to be a great party! I love that it's going to be in your yard. Good think you've got that new landscaping all done! Is the deck finished?

MARY Q - just so you know - I already dibsed watching BOTH of Lori's dogs if she ever needs them babysat in WA. I love black labs, too, and love love goldens. I win! But feel free to come visit them. I am sorry to say I wake up at 4am every morning lately. But don't go back to sleep so I give up and get up. 5am is my preferred wake up time. Maybe when we get back home and "spring ahead" my biorhythms will settle down. All the joanns I've been in in the past few years have also been "let go" - floors are filthy and full of dust bunnies, empty shelves, no staff available. Sad.

CHRISS - how was Gramma Thursday?? Or is it morphing into Gramma Friday Morning??

Yesterday was nice. We missed our little girl but it was such a nice outing at the winery - a scenic 1-hr drive to get there, purrfect weather, friendly server, Scottie at our patio table, excellent lunch, even more excellent wines which, admittedly, surprised us. We weren't expecting Texas wines to be so good. They had nice glass toppers, too, (to keep flying bugs out of your glass) so we bought a set of those and 3 bottles to take home. Before we left for the winery, we packed up the last of the sewing stuff and stowed it all for travel. I won't even get out my machine for the 4 days we're in Houston. Monday will hopefully be with Cindy and Sue and Tuesday and Wednesday will be Bill's dr appts. Thursday we hit the trail for home.

Today is our last day with Amara. I'm so anxious to go home, but hate to leave her. She is going to wonder where her big playmates suddenly made off to and why they don't come play with her anymore. I hope the kids will facetime or Zoom us more often this coming year. We will see her for a little bit after the quilting class tomorrow, but that will be it. Tonight's supper is going to be homemade chicken noodle soup in the crockpot. I'm also going to load it with extra veggies - carrots, celery, onion, garlic, and I'll add frozen peas the last 45 min. of cooking. I'll freeze extra soup for a trail supper.

Happy Weekend Eve!

Good Morning I finally got around to reading the comings nd goings of yesterday,
Interesting what the grand kids call us, My older grandkids call me gramma, my younger grandkids (14,16,and19) call me grammie. 2 of the great grand kids call me grammie also and Navy calls me GG. I have one grand daughter who rows her own boat ( very individual) who does call me G-Ma,
Today is my cardiologist appt this was postponed from October when I was trying to rehab my new knee. Im sure he will not be happy with all that they changed in my meds and all that has happened. but his job is to fix it,,,I trust him more than all the other specialists I saw,,,His dad was my PCP for many years befor he retired,
I did get a few more blocks done on the quilt, but it is just a wip and no hurry, After it is finished I plan on sewing the yoyos into a coverlet ( not sure what I will do with that) I saw one in an Amish shop that was 800 yoyo and I have 600 so my coverlet might be a bit smaller...depends on my mood...I actually find sewing yoyos very relaxing, and very portable..and I have a large box of charms to use up. Might just take that to Florida to do when I sit and relax...
Well its coffee time and I might throw a load of laundry in, I did massively clean the tile in the bathroom and I have a lot of cleaning rags to wash, it is white and now it is really white,,,
I have been going to bed by 930 and sleep solid ly till about 5 then a trip down the hall and back to bed til 6..If I stay up late I dont sleep well so I have pegged 930 as bedtime...

Good morning!

I can barely see the sun, he's slow this morning popping over the mountains. It looks to be a very nice day. We have PT today and a errand or two. Then home.

Yesterday was not a good day! Mr G misplaced his meter that he keeps in his pocket for the blood sugar readings. I wasn't in the mood to find it, so I let him fuss and look for it himself. He looked through the house trash, everywhere surface in the house and couldn't find it. Even took the bedding apart in our room. No find. Finally after several hours, I looked. Found it in less than five minutes. Right where he said he looked several times. Under the edge, 9n thefloor, on his side of the bed. At least he cleaned up papers and stuff while he looked. So since he disassembled the bed, I changed the sheets as well. I swear I'm going to glue that meter to him! He's really grumpy when he doesn't have it.

After PT, I'm washing the floors here, then down to play in the Batt Cave. I need to play!

The deck needs it's railings still. Daniel is fabricating them. We have designed something different and the railings you buy, that are similar, are outrageous in cost. So we saved the old rail, and will use the pickets from that and Daniel will weld to make new. The old are black and Daniel knows a shop that will powder coat them white, which we want. The pickets will be encased in the trex material too. He has until August to be done. There's a temporary wood rail in place now.

Sarah , well Ethan and Stu will finish stacking the stone around the gathering area, the fire pit. And she'll be adding more plants. We'll do that after the snow finishes. Humm, the way winter is going now, tomorrow? πŸ˜€

So that's about it from the frozen tundra, without snow,

Hugs,
Jana

OMG, had my post half done and Chrome shut down again. So I will shorten my update.

All is well except headache. I ate and drank some coffee and if that doesn't help, I will take some Ibu.

DGD quilt done except for border.

It is foggy here today, now 43 and going to about 55.

I slept a bit better last night but haven't slept all night since I started night shift. Maryz I am hoping you are right.

Well, I will come back tomorrow as all my time is up for today. Need to run the vaccum and get all my sewing stuff out of the car from yeterday. I left my sewing machine for service. He is backed up so 3 weeks is estimate for getting it done. Not sure what I wil use for Free Sew on the 25th.

Have a great day everyone.

Overcast and a chance of rain this morning. I'm glad it stayed warm overnight, because I forgot to put my plants in the garage last night.

MaryZ, Sounds like your trip to the winery was an enjoyable adventure. I drink 1 - 2 cups of coffee, black, usually Texas Pecan and sometimes French Vanilla. Adding the Loophole recipe does give it a different taste. And because of how the morning started here, I'm drinking Texas Pecan, black, nothing added. I was looking forward to seeing you again and helping you with the class and then packing up your quilts. I'm still healthy. Garry is not coughing or as snotty as he was. I checked what OTC cold stuff I could get him, that wouldn't mess with his blood pressure med, bought Mucinex and some herbal cough drops.

Chriss, I hope you are having fun and will give us a full report when you get home.

I was sleeping good, cause Garry wasn't coughing or blowing his nose, until he walked out of the bathroom at 5:35 and asked me if his suspenders were on right. I questioned why he was up so early. He had to have been up for over an hour, because he remembered my telling him that he needed a shower today and he had taken one. He didn't have an answer for getting up that early. I told him I was going back to sleep and he took his shoes off and climbed back in bed. He just got up. My alarm was set for 7, but I was up a little before. The survey guys were coming at 8 to set the pins for the new lot. I had forgot to clear the area of old grass and brush, so quickly got into my work boots and jeans, and took the weed eater out and cleaned up the area. They showed up and the pins are set. Not sure what the rest of the day will be.

I hope y'all have a great day.

Good morning Girls

Do you guys do this? Lay awake at night thinking about all the things you want to do the next day? I was sure last night that I wanted to get up, grab my coffee, come chat and then whip into those house chores---you know, wash a couple floors, scrub a couple toilets, dust a few things, maybe haul out the big vac ( I have a big old heavy Kirby). Now I am re thinking my bedtime promises! I really don't to do all that!! But it so nice to have ALL that done and then I'll be able to relax and have fun for another week or so!

Maryz.. Hope your class goes great tomorrow. Seems like you just landed in Austin and now here you are packing up the hit the road already! The time just went so fast didn't it. Hope you have a great time visiting with Sue and Cindy!! Don't forget to take some good pictures! Don't wish there was a way to put hugs and kisses in a jar to save them for later! When one of kids were little, I would dig an imaginary hole in their cheek and plant a kiss in it, then cover it over so that they couldn't ever wipe the kiss away and it would be there forever!

Judi... Will be nice to go back to the Dr you really like and have a good review of everything! I'm Nana here because when Bren was little he was at my house---Shawn said "go find Gramma," I and he kept looking for Viv! So we decided I'd be Nana! My sister is Nani! My Dad was Grampa-Grampa! All sorts of funny names out there. I'd rather be Nana than Mee maw tho!

Flo.... Looking forward to seeing your new purse!

Jana.... MEN!!! "can't live them, pass the beer nuts" Do you remember that episode from "Cheers" Maybe the meter can go in a pocket?

Valerie.... Hope the coffee and Ibu work on the headache! Do you get migraines? Luckily I've never been afflicted with those, and my headaches have pretty much gone away since menopause! YEAH!

Lyn... I just might have to try that recipe for loop hole coffee. Will have to add honey and lemon juice to my grocery list. How's the she shed coming? Is the sheet rock dry? Takes a little while to get all that done, having to wait in between layers of plaster/mud! Can't wait to see pictures when it's all done.

Well, my washer just sang its little tune so time to go switch loads and grab some more coffee on the way to the laundry. I made a double batch of chicken cheese soup last night and left the pots to soak, so I guess I better go clean up that mess too! Maybe I will wash those floors after all!!

Wishing you all the best!!

The heck with just the beer nuts, pass me the beer! That darn meter does live in his shirt pocket, when he has his shirt on! And then that darn meter goes off, all hours of the night, blood sugar too high, or the too low alarm! Calgon take me away!

Good morning everyone 🌞
Maryz, thanks I had fun making them. It's already going to be Saturday tomorrow, it was just Saturday yesterday LOL gosh weeks zoom by! And now the dreaded time to leave Amara home, ugh 😩 I'd cry 😭😒
Sounds like the winery was fun 😊
Judi, if I go to bed before 11 I either toss and turn for hours or fall right to sleep for an hour and then awake for the rest of the night or for 3 to 5 hours ugh. I love how you have 1 DGD that has her own special name for you πŸ₯°
Flo, mine need baths too, they are good when I give them theirs thankfully.
Jana, oh goodness, what a time you've had this morning. Maybe you could make a wrist band holder for the meter?
Val, I seem to remember that you have a sewing machine in a box πŸ˜€ or did I dream that πŸ€” sounds like the perfect reason to open that puppy up and take it to Free Sew 😁
Lyn, oh goodness that must've been a crazy wakeup for you! And then you still got your weeds all taken care of, you rock! Have fun helping MZ at the library tomorrow! How fun that will be! I'd love to be able to go and see you both! I'm glad Garry is doing better.
Maryq, my mind kicks into high gear at night, I have a really hard time shutting it down, my little brother is the same way..... it's worse when I wake up through the night.... it's the reason I don't sleep some nights. At least you were being productive in your thoughts LOL
I think I'm going to see if I can make Holly and Maria a new table topper next.... I'd like to quilt something but I just can't stand long enough right now..... it's beyond getting old fast! But I'm trying to stay busy.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need πŸ™
Tina
