Post by grammiequilts » Fri Dec 06, 2024 4:08 am

Good Morning it is dark and 17' out there. but Mondy we get up to 50!
I will conrinue to tidy up the house and make lists for the big day. I have to return set of pots and pans I bought,,,they are ceramic and non toxic but I dont like the way they handle...I did some "youtube" research and stainless steel is the way I am going. I have LeCrueset and they are worn old and way to heavy for me to handle...I dont like the chemicals in the "Non stick" Seems everything has its draw backs.
We had a nice time with the family last night, They were feeling bad because i cannot eat pizza but I am sorta used to it...I have lost 22 lbs but you dont want to do it that way....but I might get a new wardrobe out of the deal...things are getting a little baggy,,,here
Well I need coffee ( I can have that) and some of the Protien shake for my breakfast...Hope you all have a great day,,,its beining to look a lor like Christmas here,,,a little snow and cold and lots of lights...XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning,

FLO - Don't you love a day when the weather, hot or cold, prevents doing anything else but sew!

TINA - Really? You haven't left your house in almost 2 weeks? Groceries? Doctor? Dad? Cruces? Kevin's? Hoping for rain for you but it's New Mexico - you always need rain! We've been getting some here. Texas needs it, too, but I wish they'd get it after we're gone.

CHRISS - I'm sorry your local business was a dud for flooring. I hope they agree to the full refund and get it to you ASAP so you can go somewhere else. Now you have to start all over? Glad you and your Main Man have a date for Christmas and that his stocking is nearly complete. We want a photo of it when it's done! When your Be You, Little One kit comes, you can always alter it a bit if you want to make it simpler. The first 6 blocks have scalloped borders composed of 2" squares with little 1-1/4" squares sewn to two top corners to make them "pointy. Each block border has 6 of those little units sewn together. Not hard, but time consuming. And I learned that those little units need to be squared up because mine were all a bit uneven. You could always just make a simple 2" border, though it would interrupt the pattern a little. But it would be your own pattern then.

JUDI - Your snowmen play only for a short time when the button is pushed? I bet the kids have had fun with them over the years! I see Ken's Lions won last night. I'm guessing that put him in happy town! We watched White Christmas. That's a bummer that a virus caused your friend's diabetes. They said it was a virus that caused my Roy's cardiomyopathy, too. There are some mean viruses out there. I'm glad DR Nolan's birthday party was so nice. I remember my college chem classes. They were interesting, but really hard. My son found out he loved chemistry, changed his major, and now is an environmental chemist. Are you done decorating? What's next in your run-up to the holidays? I want to say congrats on that weight loss! But like you said, it's a rough way to lose it. Glad you are getting used to your liquid diet. But I hope after Tuesday you can start gradually advancing that diet.

BECCA - You have your entire month all planned out! And you get to see Frankie! I didn't realize you'd never met her in person. She is about 20 months plus a couple weeks now, isn't she? I think she's 3 weeks older than Amara. Amara is also very active and chatters up a storm. But only she knows what she is saying. No purposeful words yet though she knows what WE are saying and who everybody is, even all the cats and dogs. You and Chriss and I are going to have such a fun Christmas!

LORI - checking in to see how Dad is doing. This could be a real challenge if he can't remember he has a broken hip when he tries to get up and walk. I'm glad you like the Twilight Creatures quilt. I would be honored if you copied me and bought it too!

JANA - hope Mr. G's meds will be all set soon. It takes a while. Is everything decorated now? Is it time to start baking?? How is your shopping going? Wrapping? I think this weekend we will dig out presents we brought down from home, wrap them, and take them to the kids to put under their tree on Monday. And then we'll have to watch Ms You Know Who very carefully. But it will get more stuff OUT of our trailer!

MQ - Don't I remember you saying last year what you just said this year? "IF we do this again next year . . . . . " lol! You can't resist sewing all those fun little crafty things! I think a sets of 4 or 6 of those lacy ornaments you make would be fun, unique, and would sell well. So you are essentially homebound until you get your car fixed? So no Christmas shopping until then? How about Amazon? Any chance of borrowing a car from your son's household? You mentioned a white flocked tree with blue ornaments. I think that would be beautiful! My DMIL used to make her trees a different color lights and ornaments each year. All gold, all white, blue, red, multicolored, etc. Dad used to fuss because she bought all new ornaments every year. One year she did a white tree in blue just like you described. It was lovely!

KATY - my witch pattern is a wall hanging called Posh Pocus using the Sew Kind of Wonderful ruler. No spinning. The pattern generally costs $12 but SewThankful.com has it for $7.99 right now. I have it and Mr. and Mrs. Clause - all bought at a quilt shop in Bakersfield 2 years ago. I haven't made any of them yet, but I keep hauling them around in my trailer just in case the mood strikes. Are you all done with your decorating? What else do you do for Christmas? Baking?

LOIS - Congratulations on your 30# weight loss! And on #5 quilt. Is this the fishing quilt? Our stew is gone. How about yours? I'm thinking lasagna here - I have a Costco frozen one I can just pop into the oven. And as almost always - salad. I would love to make garlic bread, too, but, you know . . . bread. So we usually skip it.

We didn't go to the kids' yesterday. We sent early morning texts to Antonio asking what the day's plan was. By 10am we finally started our laundry instead. Turns out Antonio doesn't look at his phone in the mornings even though he's usually up by 4am. I don't know why. So we are meeting them at the library today because, for their Christmas gift, his mom bought them a one time deep cleaning of the entire house and he wants to be out of the house for that. We don't know which library but we'll just keep checking them until we find them, I guess. He's not the best communicator, we've learned, but neither is Autumn. So we fumble along best we can. But - since we had a free day yesterday I got the last 6 blocks made for my Be You, Little One quilt. Now to assemble the blocks with sashing, cornerstones, and borders.

It's Friday! Only 3 weekends left until Christmas!

Morning all!
Busy day yesterday. DDIL came over in morning to hope DGD gifts and we planned for evening. DGD had her Christmas concert last night, DS1 came for for his 34 hr reset, he's a truck driver. So we brain stormed supper, she made a grocery run, then we put together baked ziti and meatballs. The girls left fir the school at 5:30, joe hung out waiting for DS to say he was ready to get picked up. Girls home at 7, guys shortly after. Supper was a 8, very late for us. DGD was very interactive at concert, she's nonverbal autistic. It was awesome!
Today is catch up on housework because tomorrow I'm helping neighbor put up her Christmas lights...I'm tired and day just starting.

17° but going to 51°, hopefully quickly today.

This may be our last day here, if I get my list done. So I got up early, wanting to get to Amanda's and get things done. I walked into the breakfast area here at the hotel and was shocked to find it full of teenagers. There's at least 2 schools boys and girls basketball teams here for a tournament. Needless to say there was a line to get breakfast.

I hope everyone has a good day. Please fondle fabric for me.

Good morning!

We had fog last night. Fog is water and freezes on everything it touches, so ice is everywhere! But the trees and grass look very pretty dusted in a heavy frost.

Everyone here is going every which way! Daniel made it safely to California. He's in Auburn and got there after all the shaking was over! Auburn is way in land from the earthquake, and is located in the Sierra foothills near Sacramento. Matt is back and forth to Logan and loving his new toy. He can charge the Tesla up there, but it could make the round trip. Crenda is busy traveling too, she has a part time job with a well known group of youth speakers, helping out in the front of the venue with tickets and stuff. Then Sarah is just plain busy! Yesterday she and I went all over the valley shopping. We did get food in and stopped at the LQS and we got the black fabric ineeded.

The house is mostly decorated. Just boxes in the way still. My littles will be here on Sunday to take them all back down. The littles will decorate the trees then too. I'm ready to bake cookies! I have a great sugar cookie recipe to do the cut out cookies. Sarah found a new recipe for royal icing to decorate with, uses marshmallows and should taste better. So we'll try that this year. Emma loves to decorate cookies, so she'll help too.

So I'll be rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, translated to mean, re stacking the boxes to be able to move and function in the house until Sunday. Humm I had a great idea to put the empty totes on the deck, Mr G just vetoed that idea. We'll see.... about that.....

Chriss - sorry about the bug a boo floor. Just remember, that the crews that Lowes and Home Depot use, are local contractors that are subbed to those big box stores and you may get the same installers again, by the area you live in.

Well, off I need to go,

Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Good morning Girls

Running a little late this morning, still in jammies, but got sucked into watching some news on the internet--of which I generally believe about 1/2!

Judi.... If you are looking for new Pots and pans--check out Revereware! I still have the set of pans I bought in 1976!! Copper bottom stainless steel. I use them for everything! I have a couple small teflon frying pans for eggs, but everything else goes into the Revereware! Kris and Viv have the fancy "Emeral" and Cruset pans, but you can't go wrong with good old stainless! I'm googling.. you can get a set of them For $479. on Ebay! Yikes, I didn't realize they'd gotten so expensive!

Lois.... How did you lose the weight? I've been just counting carbs, but haven't been counting them very well lately. I've kind over indulged in chocolate lately as I had it in the house for things I was doing for the Christmas party. And yesterday I had a real craving for potato chips! Not good. I'm fighting the urge to bake cookies for the holidays!

Maryz... Not totally homebound. I can drive short distances like to the grocery store and back. I have to avoid the highway as I'm still driving on the spare tire. I need to call the other gals insurance again this morning and see what to do next. Once the car goes into the shop for repair her insurance will pay for a rental, so I can get out and about. I just wish they would hurry up and authorize me to "get 'er done"! I was awake at 0100 this morning trying to think of simple shopping. Amazon will be a good choice. As soon as this car situation is figured out I'm going to make a Target run for most of it. The kids are getting boxes of food I think and a gift card. Have no idea what to get Viv---as she has EVERYTHING!!!

Becca... Sorry to hear your good friend is moving away. I hope you will still be able to get together with her from time to time!

Flo... Baked ziti!! Numb... Sounds like a great quick meal to me! Don't you have lots of your home grown tomato sauce!

Lyn.... You're about ready to hit the road to head south? I bet Amanda really appreciates you being there. I'm sure you are anxious to get home and check on the process at your she-shed!

Jana... Now that you are done with your house, wanna come help me with mine? I was sorting a big black garbage bag full of just bows last night so this morning it looks like a ribbon factory blew up in my living room!

Chriss...So sorry to hear that your brand new floor is a mess!!! I hope they will give you a refund without a big hassle. Yeah for spending Christmas with your darling little boy!

Lori... How is Dad doing? Will they keep him at the hospital very long or send him to a rehab center for a while before he goes home?

Need to get showered and dressed this morning and made a mad dash to the Post Office and the bank. Might sneak into the Dollar store for a couple little things for the kids. All within 2 miles from my house so I'm good to drive that far. Left a message for the insurance co. a little while ago. Now watch, he'll call back while in the shower!

wishing all you the very best!

Good morning everyone 🌞
We are very overcast today and our high will only be 54° but there's a breeze so it will feel cooler. I'm going to town in a little while.
Judi, I've been looking at pots and pans too, I just don't know what to get, I have cast iron that have the glaze on them and they are so heavy. Wow, that's a lot to lose in a short time, I wouldn't recommend that way either. My clothes are very baggy too but I'm trying to not buy anything yet just because I still have weight to lose. I did have to buy undies cause they were literally falling off me LOL
Lois, 30 pounds! Yay you! I'm in awe of all the quilts you're getting quilted! High 5!
Maryz, nope I've been just staying home LOL. Groceries have been being delivered if I need any but haven't since before Thanksgiving. Dad's groceries get delivered here but Frankie ran those over to him, he's been quarantined because he was exposed to COVID but his 5 days were up yesterday and thankfully he didn't get it. My eye Drs appointment in Cruces was about 3 weeks ago and my GP quit or moved or something so I don't even have a Dr to see. All the kids came here so I didn't need to go anywhere LOL
That's kinda funny about Antonio not checking his phone for texts, I'm guessing if anything was important people would call him and he'd answer? Frankie never checks his phone and sometimes I don't check it for him for a couple weeks and I'll see he has texts but he's not a texter so he says if anyone wants him they can call.
I hope you found the right library, I would've guessed it was Autumn's.
Becca, sorry your friend is moving, it's kinda crazy how expensive some of those places are. Your Frankie, MZ's Amara and our Elijah are all close to the same age and they're all very fun 😊 Elijah sure is a funny guy, I'm sure yours and MZs are too ❤️
Flo, I love going to the kids programs, they're the best!
Lyn, LOL I remember going on those trips with the kids, I never even thought how the other guests responded when walking in on us all at breakfast time, I can imagine now that it would be a little shocking LOL I bet it put a smile on your face 😁 kids are very energetic around food in their groups.
Jana, why doesn't Mr G want the totes on the deck? It would only be temporary? I'm glad everyone made it safely.
Chriss, sorry about the flooring, maybe you can get the little bit better stuff now that you had mentioned before?
I'm taking Easton and Preston to see Moana 2 tomorrow, waiting to see if Jazmyne wants to go with us, Frankie doesn't like to go see shows like that so I get to have a Gramma and kids outing 🥰❤️
The 14th I'm going to go see the Nutcracker in Cruces, Maria was going to go with me but forgot she'll be in Disneyland LOL so Holly is going with me and Frankie will keep the boys ❤️ I laughed because he didn't want to go and when Holly said she'd trade with him and she'd go if he watches the boys he jumped on that out 🤣😂 I'm going because my DSIL is one of the ballerinas in it and she teaches the little kids that are in it. I missed it last time which was 2 years ago and wanted to make it for sure this year.
Well since I'm going to town I need to get my few chores done before so I better scoot. You all have a great day! Prayers for those in need 🙏
Tina
