Good morning,

It's early here almost 4:00 and I'm up I've been coughing and sneezing it must be allergies so I'm in my sewing room watching murder she wrote and having coffee.
Yesterday we went shopping for curtains for the dinning room I wanted curtains for our deck doors so we went to Boscov's department store in the mall they didn't have the ones for the deck so the lady ordered them for us will get them in the mail in a couple of days.
I also have the main part of the cat tails done so it just 2 borders to put on and that will be done.
When I went to use my big iron yesterday I wasn't working so I plugged it in several outlets and it would work so it wasn't to upsetting it was a cheap iron from bed bath and beyond 23.00 oh well so much for black &decker when I get a chance I will get another for now I have my oliso sm project iron that I will use.
Well the Longshore men went out at midnight will see what that prevails.

Well that is it for me everyone enjoy your day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Well, I had a whole post post and it pooped. Asked me to login again. I’m doing OK several times go to the bathroom. The bladder issues are not resolved yet but I’m getting there a meeting today. Once they know how I’m doing with my carrier and what I’m gonna do in the future, I’m finally feeling like I getting better after seven days. It’s been tough anyone who tells you getting a knee replaces easy is lying. It’s hard and I’m not a baby pain is not bad but mobility is my surgeon has a set of things that he does and my knee is covered in dressing I can’t touch , it’s hard to get washed up for two weeks and not shower and I know he has a Zero infection rate so that’s what we want. I hope you all have a good day. Thank you for all the cards and well wishes. I’m telling you it gets me through the day when Ken brings me my cards in mail you are all
So kind XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOO typing on your phone takes forever

Good sunny morn here in Myrtle beach to all

The news did a up=date on the damaged areas from Helene. What a horror for those families. Mother nature must really be super mad at us. Clean up will take years to get back to normal.
LOIS-- Too bad your allergies are kicking in. I see a nap for you later today. Sewing, coffee and (my favorite) murder she wrote is missing just 1 thing to make it perfect--chocolate-- these are my remedies for everything AND it works, Hope you day gets better as the day goes on.

I've been working on my ufo's and never realized how many I had hidden away. I think both Marys have sent their sneaky elves to me. Shame on you!! LOL. So far 2 tops for QOV-a few place mats and table runners for Christmas for DD and DDIL. Any leftover pieces of fabric became mug rugs and coasters.

Well, tomorrow is Joes 5th treatment -so fingers crossed for no side effects.

Good morning,

LOIS - sorry your iron quit on you. My irons, no matter the brand, seem to last anywhere from 6 months to 3 years. Which, when you think about how many hours a day our irons are on, I guess that isn't too bad. Oddly, it seems the cheaper the iron the longer it lasts, so I'm done buying the expensive irons. Right now I have a Durathon by Hamilton Beach, recommended by MARY Q and so far, so good - after about a year. I think it was about $30, give or take. Sorry I didn't alert you to that Quilted Snowman pattern. The QIAD ad for 30% off came to me on my phone when I was in Fairbanks at my brother's house. I tried hard not to buy it, but I failed. I should have called you then. What was I thinking??? My bad. But I bet they have it on sale again soon . . . .

DIANE - sorry about the UFO"s. But they were ganging up on us Mary's. We had to do something with them! We've been watching the news, too, about what Helene left in her wake. And I learned my DD and DSIL were traveling at that time and stuck near Ashville, NC. They are OK, but I'm still waiting to hear from my sis-in-law in NC. Here's to Joe tomorrow. How long to the side effects last for him?

LORI - It's nice that your you live so close to your dad and he walks to your house for company. But I hope he doesn't walk away from the BNC thinking he's going to your house and get lost. With some patients with dementia there is a "wandering stage". Have you been able to get any sewing done? I know you've been busy with other things lately.

SHARONA - I think that internet outage was pretty widespread and yes, it was sabotage. Bill was telling me about it last night. I hope they got 'them'.

FLO - doing any sewing lately? Did you ever finish your doily quilt?

CHRISS - glad Buster turned out to be a keeper. You might be up against some opposition if you tried to send him back! I hope you got those chores done yesterday so you can get to that all important sewing today! If you buy Costco frozen meatballs, beware - it's a huge bag! Regular grocery stores sell smaller bags though I haven't tried them.

MARY Q - I've heard of, and tried, chili sauce and grape jelly combined to make a sauce for appetizer meatballs. It was good, too, but people seem to really go for Sweet Baby Ray's. We don't use those heavy items you mentioned. Wouldn't you think they could put them in smaller containers for some of us weakies? How was lunch?

JANA - baking at Gramma's sounds like a good idea. What will you be making?? You know - just in case I drop by . . . with everyone talking about cake last week, I almost caved and baked one here. White with chocolate frosting. You know - just in case I drop by . . . .

JUDI - I know you're working hard! One whole week down! Your Lions won the game last night. They played an almost flawless game. Tell Ken and your sister congrats for me!

VAL - where are you??

I was texting with Cindy last night. She had her hip replacement at 7am and was homy by 1:30 she said. She was walking around her house with a walker and doing pretty well, though she was very thankful for pain meds and prayers offered for her. He DD, Kim, is staying with her.

I started pulling fabrics for Quilted Snowman. Whew! It's a big project! I'm working on cutting out pieces for different parts of the quilt, bagging and labeling them. This may be a project to take to Texas. Or not. We'll see how it goes in the sewing room. I'm pre-cutting/bagging so I don't have to haul such a big stack of fabrics if it does go to Texas in the trailer with us. Storage is very limited. But today's main focus is a load of laundry and to start cleaning the house. Everything is in serious need of scrubbing, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, polishing, blah blah blah. Doesn't sound like much fun but I've been experimenting and the results are in - if left alone for significant periods of time, house uglies do not do themselves! I also need to make something for supper. Maybe homemade pizza or maybe a sheet pan supper or perhaps chicken veggie soup. I'll let Bill choose. It makes him feel important. :D

That's all, Folks!

Good morning Girls

Don't forget to turn the page on your calendar!! My Mom always said it was back luck to turn the page before hand, so as I sit by my desk... I'm going to turn the page to October and kind of wish I could turn the calendar back a few years.

Lois... Dang.. don't you hate that when another iron bites the dust! I've lost count of how many I've gone through. I do love that Durathon that I told Marzy about. But I've also tried a T-Fal one Katie recommended--on Amazon. It was $43 and I've had it for a full year now with no problems. If you want to see it, let me know and I'll send you the link from Amazon. When you think of how much we use an iron, way more than the average person if they last a year or 2 I think that's pretty good!

Judi... SO glad to hear that you feel you are doing better!!! I'm sure you are anxious to get home, but a little more PT now will make it easier to do when you get home and need to walk up those steps!! I think Viv would agree that having a knee done is NOT easy!! She's had both done! It's a procedure I'm sure not looking forward to and will avoid if possible.

Diane... Did my elves sneak into your house too? Oh Gosh, they are a busy crew!! I had to clean out my "bathtub storage" and found I think 13 tops in there? I did find some backings and in the garage and as soon as I'm done with all this craft fair stuff... I might even try to quilt a couple myself. Sending some prayers for Joe tomorrow.. one more after this one?

Maryz.... What?? Cindy was home the same day after her surgery???? I think she said it was robotic. Glad Kim is there with her, no fun to be alone after something like that and probably much safer for her as well. Sheet pan supper? Is that like throwing fish sticks on a cookie sheet?   Every morning I wake up trying to think of what to fix myself for supper. Maybe it will be pork chops tonight, or maybe since it's cooled down quite a bit here, it will be that pot of chili. I've heard of that grape jelly recipe--but somehow it just rubs me the wrong way. Lunch was fun!

Chriss.... I so agree with "too much internet" So much "advice" out there I think that some folks forget to rely on their own instincts. I've learned to believe only about 10% of what I see on the internet these days. A friend of mine will believe what people tell her in support groups over what a Doctor says! nope!!! When can you go back to see Elliott? Do you think the kids will allow you to come say... once a month or every couple weeks?

Flo... How are your chickens doing? Still giving you lots of eggs? Can you freeze eggs? I mean if you cracked open and dumped in little containers to cook later... is that a thing?

Sharon.... Seriously... local thugs crashing fiber internet? What next!! I love computers, don't get me wrong, but these days.... it's kind of scary how dependent we are on them. I pay all my bills on line... if the internet crashes I can't pay bills. Seems like you can't do much without the internet anymore. And who writes a paper check anymore. I even heard that the McDonalds in town won't take cash!! You have to use card! Now that... to me is just wrong and probably illegal.

Lori.... Do you use a Cricut a lot? My Sis-in-law does some amazing things with hers. I have a little Silhouette but it's pretty basic and I haven't used it for a while. But I have cut fabric on it and it's worked ok for that. I haven't used it much since I moved -- there's no great place to set it up here. Though if I did some rearranging I might be able to haul it out.

On the way home from lunch yesterday I stopped at the Floor place and paid for the new floor for the sewing room, but will wait until end of October to get it installed. It will take me all month to clean out the sewing room to get ready for it. Laid awake last night trying to figure out if maybe there might be a more efficient way to set it up once the new floor is done. It's only a 10x11' room so it's kind of a squeeze to get everything in there. Somewhere around here I have some graph paper so I think I'll draw it up and see what happens. I even thought about sending it off to Mr. Grumpy, the Engineer!

For now I need to get busy, since I was gone yesterday nothing got done and as usual I have little messes everywhere!

Wishing you all Super Fun Tuesday!

Good morning!

Oh, don't send it to Mr G, he's slower than molasses in the middle of a blizzard in Alaska in January! Now, Sarah is a different story. I'm still waiting on Grumpy Gus to decide on where that ding dang desk is being oriented in the office. It's, well, this way works with that preference, or the desk could go the other way and I get that preference. I'm going batty! And the room is only 10x11 and the desk fits only two ways. Just pick one! And since all the medical issues, he's slower than ever before!

Today is PT, then home. Hopefully will get into trouble in the Batt Cave. Yesterday's phone outage caused Daniel, Kari, Sarah, Sandee and Stu all grief. Kari couldn't do her job from home, Sarah either. It was not fun. They got back phone service last night. We are so dependent on electronics. I hate to think about if my heater thermostat in the middle of winter was dependent on my phone to turn on. I will keep my old fashioned thermostat, thank you. My front door lock is a new fangled one and eats batteries every couple of weeks. Drives us bananas! Yet, we get stuck with the internet for everything, sometimes no alternatives. And don't get me started on computers- I got a very nice Cricut for Christmas last year and it won't run on my current computer operating system, so I have to buy a whole new computer so I can run it! The Cricut just sits gathering dust . Mr G is fussy over his computers, and so I wait. Uggh, one of those days!

Well, I need to get going, change laundry and feed Mr G.

Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Good morning. The rest of this week will be triple digits. Where did my promise of fall go?

This morning will be grocery shopping. I'd like to get it over with early.

Lois, I have had a zillion irons. I even bought one from Amazon with the most watts I could find. They all seem to poop out before their time. quite frustrating.

Lori, glad dad will be in his new home soon. I'm sure they have some kind of an alarm system if the door is opened to prevent anyone leaving the facility. And the round the clock care will have your mind put at ease.

Judi, I'm not a card writer, but do think of you often and pray for your complete recovery.

Maryz, I don't buy food in big quantities, so probably will never taste those meatballs. Although, if I have a pot luck coming up I will keep them in mind. In the event I have meatballs I can just make them in a quantity that won't have me in meatballs for the rest of my life. LOL

Maryq, you're going to be so happy with that new floor. the room I was using for a sewing room was about the sae size as yours. How do you even fit a bed in a room that small? Jerry put shelves in the closet for the totes of fabric and that helped. I'm slowly turning that room back into a bedroom. My fabric will stay on the shelves but I'm thinking of putting a fold out couch in there on the rare occasion that company comes.

Jana, you have more patience than I have. I'd put the desk in the room and go from there.

Flo, happy sewing room cleaning, hope you don't find squirrels.

Well someone in this house needs a shower and to get moving. Lots to do hopefully while it's still cool outside.

You have a groovy day

Maryz, my dad doesn't walk down to our house. I have to drive him. He can barely walk.
He has bad feet and knees and uses a walker. The farthest he could probably go, is a few housed down.
I walk up to his house with Jack a couple times a week.

Chriss, we're getting the same heat down hear, only in the high 90's. I'm not liking it. I want my cool autumn weather back.

Jana, he's not slow, just methodical. lol

Maryq, yes, it's my favorite month. I go through spurts of using the Cricut. I bought it primarily to cut out letters and applique for quilting. I've made quite a few cards with it too. It's really fun. Just another time user upper.

Walk the boys, had a doctors appointment, now to clean up a bit. I need to go check on dad as well.

Have a lovely day.
