It's going to get up to 68⁰ today.
I'm washing clothes because I didn't do them yesterday .
I'm going to be getting my machine today with all the goodies it will be kind of a learning curve for me I joined the little rebel group Im also a member of the cutie frame group on facebook two great groups what a better way to find out answers to questions and you learn alot.

Good Morning it is cloudy and a bit cooler today. I am doing laundry too...and trying to get everything in order for tomorrow...I am waiting on the hospital to call and let me know when my surgery will be pray there is no SNAFU and it takes place on time...I dont think I can stand any more waits...nerves are nerves today.
Ken just called he is coming home early to take me out to brunch at a really neat place they only serve breakfast and brunch and have some very unique items on the menu..it is so very good all organic healthy but so tasty...
I had an interesting email this morning,,,a lady I hardly know at my guild contacted me with some geneology information it seems she saw my last name (Kens) come up in her family search...we are probably related by marriage and funny when I was dating Ken I think a rememebr a little girl who may have been her or her sister...it is a very small world indeed...so much of what she said rang a bell when I was dating Ken...hmmmm
we will talk more after my recovery from the knee and she is having bilateral cateracts removed so we will get together in november sometime...
in the mean time i will get this place in order andshower with the special soap ( its not too bad) and be ready at what ever bewitching hour they tell me....prayers please and they are so appreciated.. Good news at our house - Scottie is his almost old self again! He suddenly turned the corner about 11am yesterday and this morning was waking me up for his breakfast, bounding up the stairs to the kitchen, and trying to steal Foxy's food. The Scot is back! Thank you to all of you (and your hairy children) who sent him good wishes and prayers for him!

LORI - Sorry your dad lost his keys. Did you check all his pockets - pants, jackets, sugar bowl, fridge, trash, behind curtains, etc. My brother's wife would put things in the strangest places. He had to go through the garbage before he could take it out. That was her favorite spot to put things. It's a stage of this sad disease.

TINA - sounds like the white tornado has hit your house! Are you fall cleaning? I'm so glad Holly is helping you.

CHRISS - I hope you get to meet Buster soon! I think you said he only lost about 8 oz. I think 11 oz was closer to 10% of his birthweight, which is what most babies lose, so he was ahead of the game! The birth process is hard on babies but also, mom's milk doesn't come in for a couple of days so when they nurse, they really aren't getting much except colostrum (which is full of lots of antibodies to protect them through the first few months of life) and colostrum doesn't have a lot of calories. Hence - weigh loss. It's natural. Your dad is a wonderful jewel! If you ever get tired of him, I'm sure you could rent him out!! Vicki's house is still standing. Sometimes we worry that vagrants might move in, but thankfully, we don't have much of that kind of problem in our area. One day the developers will come in and clear the property and build about 7 big new homes but probably not until next spring.

LYN - I bet it felt good to be back 'home' again even if only for a week. Glad you had an appropriate celebration for Jelly Roll Day! I hope you can figure out a way to get your tractor to Texas. Got a friend with a flatbed who likes short adventures?

MARY Q - you say you only use your Alexa for weather and grocery lists. But what does Alexa use YOU for? I know our phones listen to us and all our conversations, too. Did you get your garage squared away to mess up again another day?

LOIS - well, now I'm going to have to readjust the vision I've always had of you sitting on your deck by water reading a BLOCK magazine. For the record, our deck is a high deck looking out on the big back yard with thick woods beyond - just in case you ever pictured me on our deck. Reading a BLOCK magazine. Do you have all the parts and pieces set up for quilting now? Table, machine, etc? Bet you're anxious to get started!

JANA - that has to be the most precious thing to watch - the littles' programs! And fun for you to have been a part of it. Every time you talk doughnuts I'm tempted to make them. But then I'd eat them since we have no one here to share them with. So I restrain myself.

JUDI - your "poonchi" sounds much like my mom's fried cakes. She would make regular homemade bread dough, then pull out a biscuit's worth, stretch it out, deep fry it, drain and sugar. Yum!! I think in Jana's area they make something similar and call it by yet another name. Today is surgery eve. As I'm sure you know, orthopedic surgery can be prone to infection so I'm sure they want your whole body as free of bacteria as possible - hence all the scrubbing and cleaning. Just think - this time tomorrow, it will probably all be over!

SHARONA - Is your company gone? Thank you for your text asking about Scottie and also my sister. Turns out she has a UTI so they won't schedule her hip replacement until she is over that. But I did give her your message!

Whatever Scottie had it was more than an upset stomach. He had "the runs" for a week before he started vomiting and finally stopped eating. Then no input or output for two days and extreme lethargy. We truly thought we were going to lose him. If I were going to guess - he was only off leash a little bit on Saturday before we left for camping. He might have slipped away for a few minutes through the woods to a neighbor and got into something in their yard - chicken poop, antifreeze, rotten food, etc. But it's only a guess. We kept a close eye on him but he does have a history of eating questionable things. Dogs!!! Can't live without them, but gosh - sometimes it's hard to live with them!

We got a scratch on our car in Alaska. Bill ordered touch up paint on Sept 7. The package was sent by USPS from Portland and went back and forth from Portland to Seattle about 8 times, then to Denver, then back to Seattle. Hoping it shows up in Gig Harbor soon! He called the paint company and they said they've had several complaints this past week about lost packages. So beware if you are mailing anything!

Miss Boots is adorable. I can say this because Lori asked about her. She will be 18 months Oct 7. They sent a video of her in her car seat. Music was playing and she was dancing in her car seat. We knew last winter that girl has music in her blood. So did my mom.

I got the laundry all done yesterday (6 loads!). I cleaned the pantry, sorted some of my clothes to keep, give away, donate, and then helped Bill with pictures. Tomorrow is going to be our only warm day - 77* - so I'm waiting to wash the flannel sheets and remake the trailer bed. Also the throw rugs. So I can use the clotheslines. I'm going to start cleaning and restocking trailer today, but I might also treat myself to a couple hours of sewing. And there's a lot of yard work to be done. So no danger of being bored here! Since Scottie had no use for the chicken and rice I cooked for him, I'm going to make chicken rice soup for us for supper. Bill thought I was kidding when I told him he was getting Scott's leftovers!

Good morning Girls

Fall in definitely in the air this morning!! 42*! Good thing I closed up the windows last night! But it will warm up later so the windows will open up again so I can enjoy the fresh air!

Lois. ... OH gosh I bet you are so excited to set up your new machine!!! When I got my little featherweight machine, I found a FB group for them and everyone there was so helpful, I'm sure you will get lots of help and advice in your group too! I'm sure they will post pictures too of how they have theirs set up. Will you be able to leave yours in space all set up so you don't have to move things? Yes I did go into the garage!

Judi.... You know, with the billions of people in the world... it really is a small place. How cool that a relative reached out. Years ago when I started worked after we sold our drugstore... I found out that I was distantly related to my boss! Her mom and I were 3rd cousins! I was so excited and wished my Dad was here to tell him about it. How fun that Ken will take you out to brunch today. I'm sure you are all ready to go tomorrow and even more ready to have it DONE! How long will they keep you in the hospital? Hope there is someone that can give us a report!

Lyn.... Good to chat with you. I'm glad you are going to check out other floor options.. I kind of wish I had done more research before I put in the LVP in the first place. Or I wish somebody would have told me "don't roll" !!! For about a minute I thought about putting carpet back in that room and using a matt, but what I am really wanting to avoid in the first place is having to use a mat!! For about 2 minutes I even considered plain old fashioned sheet linoleum, but the product I told you about is much prettier!! If it lasts 15-20 years... that's fine by me, I won't live longer than that!!

Chriss... Agree.... being born takes a lot of you! I'll be anxious to see what the Dr says today and hopefully with a little good news Mom can relax. By now her milk should be in. Does she have one of those cool electric pumps? Wish I would have one of those things back in the day! Remember the old hand bulb pump things!!!

Lori.... Last year when my Dr. said I was "pre-diabetic" She prescribed Ozempic, and my insurance wouldn't cover. Now I see places on line you can order it all the time and it's still really expensive. I could ask her to get a PA, but I don't want the stuff. I've heard it has a lot of side effects. I'll just stick with my meds and watching my carbs. I threw stew meet in the crock pot. Used to be stew meat was a less expensive meat... not any more!!

Tina.... Oh come make me some donuts... On second thought, maybe not!! Gotta watch those carbs. Tho I do allow myself a little treat once in a while.!! Yeh, this new floor is going to be a few bucks, and I'm kind of kicking myself that the current stuff didn't last, I just never knew you are supposed to roll on. I did find some new stuff that's about $5. a square foot so for the sewing room it's about $550. but then installation is extra. So I might have to wait a little longer to get it done. It's called "Timbercore" and it's about 1/2" thick, where the other stuff is only about 1/4" . And supposedly it won't hurt to roll on it.. This gal has to roll!!!

Maryz.... So glad Scottie is feeling better. Going to take a few days for all it to work it's way out I suppose. ABX often cause diarrhea in humans, so I suppose it can it dogs too, right? Hope you can sneak a little time in the sewing room this week. A person can only go so long without feeling fabric in their hands! I did make it to the garage yesterday and did a little re-con. I tried to organize the quilt tops I had in the bathroom shower and went out to see what I have available for backings, found a few things that can work so brought those in. Now I have another mess IN the house. I'd love to ignore that today, but alas, but get in gear to clean it up. Darn Peggy is coming for coffee in the morning and tho she has seen my in a state of disarray, right now there is no place to sit!!

I do need to run to the hardware store this morning, grab a small paint brush and a couple other things, so that means I need to shower etc. So I'm going to grab a little more coffee and get the day started!

Good morning!

Oh yes, yummy, scones! That's fried bread dough in Utah. Scones here are not the British biscuit things, but fried dough. Fluffy and light, smothered in honey butter. When I was in college in Idaho, there was a cafe, Walkers Cafe, that made the absolute best scones. Being a poor college student, we would scrounge up a dollar for a dozen of them. They came with the honey butter too. During the Teton dam disaster, the dam broke, flooded the entire town, the cafe was destroyed and never rebuilt. The college was built on higher ground and the water didn't reach there. I grew up with my mom making bread that we sold to help pay for my brother Tommy, while he served a mission in Australia. I got lots of scone snitches. I was 8 years old when Tommy served and I learned to make bread and helped my mom all the time. I even have the only two remaining bread pans that she used. Originally there were four. I use those pans still to make my bread. Tommy served in 1961-1963. Sarah covets these bread pans and has laid claim to them when I'm dead. Sandee wanted them too, but since she's gluten intolerant, has no need any more. Oh, we made about 4 batches of bread daily, each batch was 4 loaves and took 4 hours start to finish. 4 loaves is all that would fit in our oven at a time. I learned many things from that childhood experience, time management Being one.

Today we'll get some of the last warmth of leftover summer. My deck is humming right along. The final fussy framing is done. We raised the height of the deck, to eliminate a step out of the doors and none of us liked where the stairs were, so we moved them too. That took a bit of engineering, as I wanted a certain design and look. I got that.

I have a few uglies and then will be in the Batt Cave. It really needs some attention as the littles have left out toys- grumble, growl, so I'll put them away.

Lois – 68 is a lot cooler than those summertime temps. Happy new machine day!

Judi – prayers for your surgery tomorrow. What a blast from the past from your guild! I think I told y’all about a similar thing for me – only at my hairdressers. This lady named Damaris walked by – I said that her name showed up a lot in my family tree – and long story short, she was my 6th cousin! So weird. Hope you get your time soon. That Keb is a keeper.

Maryz – such wonderful news about Scottie’s recovery. And they can eat the most disgusting stuff. Jim had to pry a dead bird out of Maisie’s mouth. It was dark and he didn’t know what it was so it was doubly gross. Glad you and Bill are free from boredom. Lol Our company is gone, now we wait for the next one to show up (this Friday).

Maryq – so glad you get to roll. I am also a roller, but my floors are cement out in the sewing hole. I sometimes toy with the idea of putting down something else, but maybe I’ll just keep on rolling. I’m glad that Darn Peggy is stopping by for a visit.

Jana – I’m glad your new deck is what you wanted. I can’t eat much fried food, but your fried bread sounds yummy. I make maple oat scones (the British kind) – they are my favorite.

Today is a fall back and regroup day. My DIL got her tote today (which is so weird – I mailed it Friday afternoon, and normally it takes five days for mail to get to them). I will go out and resort the sewing hole and then start on a project for me – an over the couch arm organizer thingie. And do some cleaning and purging. Dinner tonight will be soup – probably potato and green chili. Have a glorious day! xoxo Sharona

Good morning. It's going to be another beautiful but too warm for me day.

My parents will be here to do a little work today. I have my only load of laundry in the dryer and the kids are on their way to a baby doctor appointment to see how much he weighs. I am making a zucchini torte hoping I get to go to my church meeting tonight. I pray each of these things are successful.

The local handyman came and got my junk. There are some good things in my pile, but nothing I will ever use and some broken tools with cords. Not sure why a tool that doesn't work was kept, but that won't happen around here anymore. If it's broken out it goes. The handyman took a pickup load of junk and only charged me $20. He gave me reasons why the cost is so low, I sure wish he'd take more.

Tina, hope you find the perfect flooring at the perfect price. Dad is blessed to have you all help him with his cleaning.

Lori, my dad has keys hanging on the inside of a cupboard on cup hooks. Spares for everything and he is really good about putting those keys on the hooks. Well, one day all of the keys were missing. He looked and eventually they were all in another cupboard all in a pile on the shelf. My guess is that my stepmom, for whatever reason, moved the keys. Hoping you find your dad's keys, they are probably in a drawer someplace.

Lois, what fun you will have unpacking and playing with your new toy. Gosh, you may never come out of your sewing room.

Judi, Prayers for tomorrow. And prayers for your surgeon too. I imagine before long you will be able to do squats. woo hoo. Fun that the person who remembers your last name might be related.

Maryz, yum, chicken and rice soup. So glad Scottie is over whatever he had. Would be nice if the developers came for demolition while you were in Texas. Then you could miss the noise and the dust.

Maryq, I could use a few things at the hardware store, I never made it to HD the other day. Just too much stuff going on around here and I don't like to go into town late in the day, too crowded. I also wish I had done more floor research before putting in this floor, but it will be fine for Moose and me and last a while. We don't roll on it, so hoping it lasts a few years. My dad has a vinyl flooring that looks like wood, it came in a sheet and is easy to clean. One day that will be my floor, in the meantime I am overjoyed to have what I have.

Jana, I hope you post pictures of the deck when you are done, I bet it is going to be beautiful. I can pass on scones or donuts, and actually any kind of bread but the doughy treat that will turn my head is an apple fritter, oh my gosh, it's my favorite.

Sharona, I am also a roller. If I mail something from my house to Marilyn she gets it the next day. If I mail something from here to Richard it takes a few days. Marilyn lives much further from me than Richard does. It's just wierd.

I think I will go in and start that zucchini torte just incase I can make it to tonights meeting. And I found some Halloween flannel and want to make Elliott one more receiving blanket. I love these receiving blankets. I tried the ones that Jana and Lyn told me about, they were the same except for the size, and they turned out nice too.

The onesie I ordered should be here in a couple of days. It will get some black stripes sewn to it and some pink ears will be made and viola, piglet! I hope it comes out as cute as it looks in my mind.

And I need to hang up my laundry, make my zucchini dish and perhaps dust a bit. Not sure when dad will get here, but I'm hoping earlier rather than later.

Dinner last night was bbq steak with grilled onions and mushrooms. Moose had a bone. I cooked the steak too long, it's a learning process. I think I will invest in a meat thermometer.

Tonight's dinner, if I make my meeting, will be pot luck. If I don't make my meeting it will probably be a salad.

Good morning, well before I know it the weekend is come and gone, the kids had a good time but grandma great is exhaused. Skipping MAD Monday today. Knee is quite sore and house needs a bit of cleaning after the kids. Just have to scrub up the kitchen counters and floor and then that will be good for now. Vaccuuming is done, toys are picked up although still finding a hot wheel here and there. Beds are remade and the knee is done.

I did get my last chart done and a tentative schedule for tomorrow. Lots of driving with 5 people it will run into OT, waiting for approval on that.

In the meantime, I have some binding to sew on, may take a nap.

Went to an estate sale on Saturday before the kids came. Found some nice little casserole dishes, like for just one or two persons. Also got a nice one that says from Portugal. They are all washed and put away. They had a Midge doll from the 60's they were asking $75 for it, the case and some clothes. Almost bought it but didn't really know the true value so left it. Not as valuable as Barbie and at $75, Lina could not play with it. DH found a book.

Chriss sounds like life is picking up for you. Oh if I could just have someone come and haul stuff for $20. Tonights dinner for me is probably Tuna noodle casserole as DD left pulled pork and potatoe salad. Not my cup of tea and last time I ate potato salad it made me sick. We are going to hot most of the week here.

Sharona I keep organizing in the sewing room and it just doesn't stay. I currently have a few projects going. Was going to sew today but knee is just too sore so will sit and do binding.

Jana I have lots of Mom's kitchen stuff but love her doll cake making set the best. Wish I could have learned to do that but I didn't. Maybe one day in my retirement.

Maryq what are you going to paint?

Maryz so glad to here Scottie is on the mend.

Judi thinking of you as you approach surgery day. God will be with you and the doctors.

Lois can't wait to see how the new toy works out.

Well all, I need to get to the recliner and get my knee up. I can do my binding from there.

Chriss, I've looked everywhere and can't find those darn keys. I got new ones made today and taped a note to leave them in the door. They're dead bolts and you need a key to open the door.

Another busy day. I did take time out to get a pedicure.

Dinner was pizza and salad.
