When tomatoes are brown on bottom its usually blossom end rot. Mix up powdered milk and water them. Lots of other fixes for it on internet

Just checked with Sarah, a certified master gardener, you need to add calcium to your soil and water for blossom end rot. Check with your nursery for what you can add. Navalet's Nursery is a excellent place in your area. They were in Concord and Pleasant Hill when we lived there. A good nursery, not the big box store have trained people. They can help.

Jana we go to Mid City in American Canyon which has been family owned since 1954. They are amazing. Thanks for the suggestion.
