advice
lawyers? Received a subpoena as witness neighbor cause bodily harm, to girlfriend. Officer came over for info and seemed to insinuate I would loose my home over it, and failed to call 911 when she screamed help. Now, I have no phone srvc am I right to worry about being charged for my actions. Neighbor has been in trouble with law before. Ideas?

Re: advice
Unfortunatly, you being in Canada makes the laws different. I can't imagine losing your home. I would call the police department and check with a superior officer. And make sure to let him know how you were made to feel.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. How do they expect you to call 911 when you have no phone?? That's ridiculous!!!

I agree with Suzette. Call or go to the Police dept. Having no phone would make it a little difficult to call. I understand you have some real problems in your city. Several people from Winnipeg have seasonal cabins at Tomahawk Resort on Lake of the Woods, where we spend our summers, and we talk about crime in your country and the U.S. I'm not sure if I would call, if phone worked.

I think you need to consult an atty in your country, I am sure the laws in the US aren't the same as they are in CAnada.

Re: advice
There are laws in the USA that say you have to render help to someone in need. This could be to call the police or any other means available that don't endanger you. You could also go to another neighbor and have them call. I don't know what you kind of laws you have in Canada. You could call or go to the local police and ask someone there. Or check online. Hope everything works out. Lori
