I woke up to pouring rain and rolling thunder this morning. It's supposed to continue off/on all day long. and I'm loving it!

SUZ - sorry about the need of an MRI. do they have those open beds in your area? I had to have one once, and I kept my eyes closed the entire time I was in there. What's the cut-off date for canceling your retreat and getting your money back? It's possible it will be just what you need come November . . .

LOIS - What are you working on in your sewing room now?

TERESA - Such good news that your kids are coming to visit! Has it truly been 16 yrs since you've seen them? So happy your family is getting closer.

VICKY - congratulations on your quilt! It was so beautiful! I think by all means you should enter it in a quilt show! The baby is getting close. I bet the excitement level is really going up in your family!

ROSEBUD - I am in awe of your DWR. I just can't wait for you to get it finished! I've forgotten though - is it for you? I sure hope so. Or else for me! Our puppy won't be 8 weeks old until around Sept 20th. It works out well because we have to go to a wedding overnight in Spokane Sept 14/15. Puppies don't go to weddings. and I hated the thought of leaving him so soon with a babysitter, my DS and DIL. My DIL already warned me I probably wouldn't be getting him back. And I believe her because I left a puppy with my mom once and she kept that dog for 14 years!

DELORES - Happy Anniversary! What a nice celebration you are planning! I hope the kids join you!

JULES - So happy to hear that Charley survived her first day! We all knew she would, but sounds like she was a success! And happy to hear your mojo has regurned!

JUDI - hope you have a terrific last day! The island excursion yesterday sounded very nice - except for that boat ride back. Set me a plate for dinner! Sounds yummy!

IRISH - you cracked me up yesterday - you said prayers for a puppy for us, two have come our way, and you asked "Did we overdo it?" DH laughed all the way down the hall to his office!

KARLENE - Can you ear the sing-songy tune? "It's so great to have a man around the house ."

CINDY - haha!! "Rufus" was actually mentioned. that was my Gr Gr Grandfather's name! But sorry to tell you, Rufus didn't make the cut. However, "Yankee . . " is still on the list! Yesterday my massage therapist, David, suggested "David". Which is funnier than it sounds because I was supposed to be a David when I was born. But I fooled 'em!

I'm taking a lay-about day. I have a very inflamed psoas muscle (ironically, it's pronounced "sew-as"). It's from sitting at the sewing machine too much with my foot on the pedal. This is a large musle that has an insertion point in the groin, runs down the front of my thigh, and attaches to my knee. and it HURTS!! I can barely walk! So, I actually have no real machine project going on now, so I'm going to relax, read, and do my exercises. It will get better. This isn't my first go-round with this problem. I wonder if I can get an attachement to run my machine by hand instead of foot . . .

Enjoy your day!
mary z

Well, it sounds like my Autumn's pregnancy test was "inconclusive" so we have to wait another week. So don't stop the prayers yet!

Good Morning Girls

Not much news from MN this morning. It's a little cloudy and cool, tho I've heard we're going to warm up into the 90's again! YUK. I hope they are wrong because I really don't want to have to turn the AC back on... so much nicer to have windows open!

Suzette... So sorry you had to cancel your retreat! MRI's are NOT fun, but when I had one a couple years ago--they were looking for my brain... the Technician gave me a wash cloth to put over my eyes and I think it helped. I just went to my "happy place" -- A huge fabric store with lots of pretty fabric to look at and feel! I think it's the noise that is most irritating.

Teresa... How wonderful your kids are coming home!! I bet you are so excited!! I hope this trip will be a huge blessing for all your family to reconnect. I have my lotto blocks just about ready to mail... will do so on Monday when I have a day off to run some errands.

Vicky... I bet Tia is counting the days! Is she feeling good? Any names picked out? Can't wait to see Kim's quilt all done, even from the pictures you've posted so far I think it's a work of ART!

Rosebud... your "neck of the woods" sounds like mine... work and paying bills! Is the DWR for you? One of these days I'm going to try one... when I get all my other projects finished--and you know when that will be... Icecyles you know where!

Dolores.. WOW Congratulations on 49 years! Now is the time to start planning for next years big 5-0!!! My folk's 50 Anniversary was in Dec of 1995, but we had a huge party in August because my Mom didn't want anybody driving in a snow storm. What a fun day that was!! I have some great pictures and great memories of that day.

Jules... Glad to hear Charley survived her first day of school.. The days should get a little easier for her now, and more fun as she gets to know her kids. When Jen was a teacher in Arizona I would go down in the spring and spend a couple days with her class... so much fun. I'd tell them all about Minnesota and our snow, and read to them.

Maryz... prayers continuing for Autumn!!! Hope your sew-as muscle heals up quickly. Do you remember the sewing machines that had a knee pedal?

Cindyg... Same Work Rut here.. We have a new boss tho, and we had a little meeting the other day... He wants to make it FUN to be at work! I think I like this guy! My theory is if you can't have fun at work, why work? The stress level is still quite high these days, we lost 2 pharmacists-one quit and one is on bed rest pregnancy with twins!

Karlene...How nice to have a handy man around the house. I would say I miss that about being married, but my DEX wasn't very handy! Are you going to be making a lot of apple sauce with those apples? My neighbor has apples, but he doesn't spray them, so they are pretty wormy. I may have to sneak over to his yard and see if there are any good ones.. I'm craving apple crisp!

Judi... I love that Sweatshirt! Oh how I would love one for my sister and I!!! I don't think I could ever give up my "high test" coffee! Tho I've pretty much quit Diet Coke! I've heard that carbonation is really bad for bones! Every once in a while a ice-cold Coke really hits that spot!

Lois... hope your work day goes fast, that the uglies are small and you get to sewing!

For me, it's time to fly.. Four more days of work til I have a day off. Have to run a couple errands on Monday, then I'll spend the day sewing. Now that the bathroom is painted I've got the bug to paint my bedroom. Oh what a job that will be!

Have a great day girls

See you tomorrow

Maryz - sorry to hear about your 'sew-as' muscle, but I have to say that made me smile - you have a sewing injury! I suppose you will fill your time with pulling out DJ? Continued prayers for Autumn.

Maryq - it is good to have a handy man; my dad is more the financial type, but he was semi-handy in his earlier years. We don't spray our fruit trees either because the cost would make it cheaper to just buy them at the store, but we've been very fortunate as most of the fruit is not wormy BUT we always cut it up first and don't just bite into it since you never know!

Good morning all! Sounds like everyone has a lot planned for today. It is cool here in NW Ohio and I love it. Fall is my favorite time of the year. The ducks are starting to come back to the pond. Fred is here already so Ethel, Lucy and Ricky can't be far behind. I know my kids think I am crazy because I named the ducks years ago and I talk to them in the morning. Actually I think it helps to keep me sane at times if possible.

Suzette - I will keep you in my prayers for your MRI to come out all right. So glad you can get your money back on the retreat. By Soring you will be "raring" to go again.

Karlene - Sounds like you have a handy husband. I am fortunate to have one of them also. Until DH became bedridden with his illness he could repair anything. He was in the middle of making me new kitchen cabinets when he got sick. He used to build kitchen cabinets on the side while also working at a factory, and the boys and I helped. he has some beautiful kitchens all over NW Ohio. From this I learned a lot so I can fix lots of things myself now. It comes in handy, and if I have a question he tells me what I need to do. Sounds like your DH is a keeper.

Jules - So glad Charley got through her first day all right. She will be a good teacher I am sure.

Dolores - Happy 49th anniversary. Hope you have many more.

Well, got to go get some lunch then run a couple of errands. I have a big project ahead of me for the next few days. I was looking for a specific UFO yesterday and couldn't find it. By the time I had pulled out all of my plastic boxes with fabric and other projects in them I had 24 boxes sitting all over my work table and eating table. I decided it was time to go through them and reorganize them better. If a few of you are interested in some "potluck" fabric send me a PM and I will get some out to you. I know I will have some that I will look at and wonder "why did I buy that" I always do when I go through my boxes. I think my "fabric sickness" is getting out of hand. LOL I know my work is going to be hectic.

Have a good weekend everyone. Pro football starts tonight. Saturday is the big Michigan game with Notre Dame. Go Wolverines!!!

Good almost afternoon from partly sunny, hopefully getting warmer, Sw. Pa....I do feel a wee bit of Fall in the air......

Today is Jim's day to "mind" the "bingo gals"....He just left in hopes the kitchen might still be open and there's left over cake....(He doesn't fool me one bit by saying he has to start early)...

I had a call from Nicky and he really, really wants me to come to N.Carolina next month...They are having a big robotic competition and he "needs" me to be there...Also, his brother will be home from college...If I take the car, Jim would be stranded and besides, I could only drive as far as a tank of gas, I don't do gas....I've been checking the airlines but there again, I don't want to buy the plane, just use the seat for an hour or so....I'm hoping a school from up here will be going and I'll just hitch a ride....

Karlene, Sounds like you have a keeper in DH...A good man is hard to find....And how I wish I had some of those apples...I put them in my relish and need to get to the store.....You're too kind...I think the only swim suit I'd look good in would be one with a turtle neck, skirt and goes down to the knees...I've probably told this story but years ago, when my sister was much, much smaller, she had a purple 2 piece bathing suit...We were on vacation and happen to be canoeing down the Clarion River and decided to stop along the side for a picnic...Well, when she and her DH banked the canoe, they both got stuck in the mud...I have pictures of her trying to get unstuck...Not too long ago, I found those pictures and threatened to blackmail her...She said, she had that suit so long it dry rotted...Maybe for Christmas I'll have a card made up and send it to her.....

Maryz, I know you're on pins and needles but you know the saying, good things come to those who wait...And I'm sure with all this praying, good things will happen, along with getting the puppy...

Suzette, sorry to hear you have to go through these tests...But, there again, with all the prayers coming your way, you'll get good results....MRIs can be scary but necessary....When I had my 1st one, I actually thought someone was kicking it to get it started....With the 2nd, I fell asleep....I love when they tell you to breathe normal, yea right! And I often thought, if you had to sneeze, you'd knock yourself out....All these fun things, now doesn't that make you feel better, lol..I'm just full of cheer today......

Well, I think on that, I'd better check the clothes and then put some shoes on and hit the road......

You all have a great day..................

Good morning!

It is a beautiful day here in the mountain west. Few scattered clouds, but wait until 3 p.m. this afternoon, the thunder storms will be rolling in - I can just about set my watch by them! LOL

Our neighbor next door is on a paid furlough - he is a airline pilot - and is bored - so he offered to put in my sprinkler system in the backyard. He is a jewel! So now we just need to get all the pieces parts that he will need.

I may get to sew sometime today - I have fabric sitting here on the desk waiting for me - but I am short a piece for the background - a nice fall brown - just don't have a piece in the scrap bins large enough - so I will dash down to the LQS later. Floors are screaming my name!

Need to pay the bills - DH got the budget done -
Hugs
Jana

We are having tons of garden problems. The Late Blight took the tomatoes and now something is all over the butternut squash (ground rot???). It is sad after putting in all the work to have this happen.

I got four diaper inserts done for Tia. I'll take them with me when I go. I'm going to stop and have my back adjusted on the way down. Tia is doing very well. Just waiting, no we don't know if it's a boy or a girl and nope, I don't have a quilt made yet. But if it's a boy I'm making a sailboat quilt. Names- yes they have them but I'm not sharing yet.

I also started a Sylvia block. (nope I don't have any insider info on what ones are next.) I just picked this one because it looks (it is) challenging.

Hey ladies been a couple days since I have been here looks like all of you are quite busy. I had ARC meetings at work all day for students; such a shame when the parent doesnt show any interest in even coming. About 80% of my parents I have never met. Isnt that sad. Oh well I still try to give them my best to better their speech and cognitive deficits.

I have not got in my sewing room past couple nights did get to sit and hand quilt some on tuesday as my DH and our new gal did a puzzle:) She is absolutely cute. She is very similar to our DD with the exception she can talk and do more for herself in personal care. But cognitively she is very similar very child like. If I got one hug I got 50 from her:)) thats the best part:)

Well dont work too hard ladies.

Gram have fun fishing

Suzette got your back in prayers :)

Chickie I still have apples to peel.

Vicky Our squash got that blight too. So sad to loose it. Tomatoes rot before they ripen we pick early and put in window to ripen. Too much water then too hot here.

I tried to read rest but got overwhelmed:) sorry if missed you.

Lee so sorry for your loss I cried reading your post. I am very close to my dad and he too has been ill and its hard to think God will call him away. Your in my prayers. I am just thankful you got there and he got to enjoy your precious quilt:)

God Bless and happy thoughts
Izzy.

I got my pattern in mail for moon and stars quilt. Teresa I will scan and send you copy :) happy quilting.
