Good morning,

Just waiting for little one to arrive. Life is good around here. Sarah's DH has been looking for a job and now has two! Where he is working now, a local university, was only for a short time, anothrr company hired him yesterday and the universty wants to keep him as well, but due to budgets, can't right now, so he will stay with the university as a telecommuter until they get the budget. The new company offered a terrific salary - so he will work for them. If something happens at the new company and he is laid off again, he still has the university job. The other great thing is the house that is just up the street from me is available to lease. Great all the way around!

DS4 got the big weeds down for us last night. We just need to rake them up, before the dirt comes on Monday.

Working on that new top still.

Well my little one is here
Hugs
Jana

Xteach - good to hear your new knee is doing good. Your vertigo is not good news. Come back and visit more often.

Suz - you were lucky your neighbor had a key. None of my neighbors have our house key. I think the older we get the more we need keyless entries on our houses like the ones we have on our cars. Sorry about your biopsy.

Lois - congrats on your short work day.

Vicky - your hands haven't been working on the Harley quilt but your brain certainly has. Glad you enjoyed your day with Tia and Jovanna.

MaryRosebud - I hope you get some interviews soon. Gosh, I hate the thought of job hunting but I may have to do it again some day. Good for you getting some rain. I sure wish we would. We're drier than a bone.

Judi - your Dresden Plate quilt sounds so pretty with the prairie points going around it. Can't wait to see it. Sorry about your DH's cough and that you are awake so early.

Delores - too bad about the restaurant and the bad birthday dinner. Hooray that you have "me" time today.

Chriss - LOL you will never ever talk me into becoming a hexie ho. I have plenty enough to do. I drive myself crazy with all I want to do. I absolutely LOVE using the wide backing fabric. No seams to mess with and it rolls up so smoothly on the roller bar of the quilt frame. And it's easy enough to find it on sale. I'm with you - glad the week is winding down.

I got a niggling headache yesterday afternoon and it's still with me. Irksome! I decided last night that I will start a men's cancer quilt while we are at the lake for Labor Day weekend. It will be a Disappearing 4 Patch so I started cutting out 5" squares and will cut some every night until I have the whole quilt cut out. It will be off white, greens and browns. The good news is that I already have a wide backing fabric for that quilt - LOL. It's the fabric I first bought for the RV quilt that I didn't like for that quilt. Ta da! Must go to the grocery store after work today as we are foodless at our house.

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

I had put this in Chit Chat but then I thought I would let all of you know what I have been up to lately, even thou I don't get on and post everyday here I do read. I will have to go back and read the last weeks happenings.

Now that I have a moment I can tell you what was going on. My Son was admitted to ICU with Pulmonary Embolism so I packed a bag and headed down to Arkansas by my self. There was a huge detour getting there over 100 miles out of the way. Oh well I just got there a little late. By the time I got there they had down graded him to a regular room. He was still having problems breathing and they transferred him to a hospital in Jonesboro, so my DGS and I followed the ambulance to Jonesboro. They ran more test and were going to do some procedure that takes the fluid off the space between the lung and heart but because they had given him Coumadin they couldn't do that so the gave something else that will take about 10 days to dissolve the blood clot. They released him on Tuesday. I was such a wreck and was heading home, my DH told me not to come right home, but to put Paducah in my navigation system and stop by the QIAD, quilt museum, and LQS's in the area, take a day just for yourself and distress. You know I took him up on it and boy that was wonderful. First stop was QIAD and they are a bunch of wonderful people. Had a blast and talked like we were old lost friends, something I really needed at that time. Thank You all once again, Joan

Good Morning!

We are back from Montana! So happy to be home! We're even almost all unpacked! Today - LOTS of floor time with my usual dance partner, Mr. Maytag. And cleaning the trailer.

JANA - will the layers of that wedding cake be up on columns? That's a big cake! Sounds like things are looking up for the kids! Didn't they just move into their other house?

KARON - good news about your knee. Hope the vertigo is just a passing thing. I get it occasionally, too.

SUZ - you might think about tucking an extra house key inside a fold of bright "key" lime colored fabric out in your sewing studio. Some biopsies come back within a couple of days. Saying a prayer for you.

LOIS & MARY R - have a great day!

VICKY - a lot of pre-work work goes into a quilt like that!

JUDI - when my BIL gets sick, I send the card to my sis. He's pretty noisy, too! Good luck at the doc's!

DELORES - so sorry about the dinner. Sounds like that restaurant is really struggling. Were they good before?

CHRISS - sounds like you need to make another thread catcher!

CINDY - hexies would make such a great hand project for the lake. . . I still have my little 1/4"-ers I've been working on. But it will just be a little scene or design when I finally get it done. I did my hexi-time years ago when I did my king-sized quilt. With the D4P that quilt will go fast. Who all is going to the lake this weekend?

JOAN - so sorry your son was so sick. A P.E. can be really serious. But I'm happy he's improving so quickly. Sounds like Peducah is just the medicine mama needed!

SHARONA - so - are we having a moving party or not? If your offer isn't accepted will you go looking some more? I guess your gut reaction if you are turned down (relief or disappointment) will give you that answer.

Well, since I don't really have a serious quilting project going right now (only a couple of lengthy projects for myself) I think if I get the trailer cleaned and the laundry done, I better start looking at the overgrown yard! What a jungle! But yardwork notwithstanding, I'm happy to be home again!

Good morning! This is a laundry day. I’m also going in to town with DH to work on the rental. I will shampoo the carpets while DH works in the yard with loppers and chain saw. Then it will be ready for the next batch to trash it.

Karon—it’s good to “see” you! So sorry about lack of sleep!!! So happy to hear your knee is doing well! Hope you feel better so you don’t have to bleach your hair to go with it!!!

MaryZ—welcome home!!! I thought of you in the PNW when we were getting rain every day. We had a jungle here—unusual for this time of year. No rain in sight now, and I’m watering again. The temperatures are back up into the 90s, too.

Joan—what a scary trip to AR not knowing how your son was doing. So glad it turned out good—hope he makes a full recovery!!! What a wonderful DH you have to give you a side trip!!! Glad you were able to de-stress in such a nice way!!!

Cindy—I like the wide backings when I can find what I want. At least they are coming out with more now. Hope your headache vanishes! I need to go to the store, too, when I am in town.

Jana—good news all the way around!!! I think you and Ethan are doing the happy dance today!

Chriss—I think Mom still has the pattern, but thanks for the offer!!! She put a “hard” flap on the serger one so that the serger sat on it and the scraps flowed right down into the catcher. It was great. I just need to take the time and make another… You can’t erase the sweet pin message!!! The “sofa” scrap catcher had a pin cushion on the flap of the one Mom made, too.

Dolores—what a rip-off! Sounds like now they are using the storm as an excuse for bad service and high prices. I think you should write a letter to the manager/owner. Too bad it was a birthday flop.

Judi—I like prairie points around a quilt. Mom has made several, and all are so pretty! I agree with questioning everything and not letting them bully you! DH had an oncologist that didn’t want to hear anything or for you to ask anything. I liked the one at Mayo much better—she wanted me to bring in my research. I had articles before she did. Why is it that men can’t handle colds???

Mary-Rosebud—I like thunderstorms as long as the lightning doesn’t cause any damage.

Vicky—the Harley sheets on backing should at least wear well even if they aren’t 100% cotton. Good luck!!!

Lois—short days at work are great! Enjoy!!!

Suzette—so glad you had a way to get back in!!! It’s nice to have neighbors you trust with a key. They come in handy if something happens when you are out of town! Hope your biopsy is benign and only for “backup to be sure!”

Time to go hang out a load of laundry… Have a super day!!! Let the thread times roll!

Good Morning Girls

Another hot one on tap here in MN. If anybody has some spare rain we could use it up here! It's so dry my nice green lawn is now a dull brown and the only things growing are the weeds! At least I don't have to put "mow lawn" on my to-do list for the weekend! If it stays hot through the weekend it will be a "stay inside in the AC and sew weekend"

Karon.. good news on your knee! Hope the dizziness goes away soon!

Maryz... Welcome Home! there's just no place like it is there? I love to travel, but I LOVE coming home.

Joan...Oh My Goodness! How scary for your son! Prayers for him that he continues to do well and that the clot goes away quickly! How nice that you got a chance to stop in Paducah on the way for a little "me" time at QIAD!

Cindyg... sure hope that head ache goes away! So you're going to the lake for the holiday weekend? With Sue and Ken? Even with all the quilts I have in progress, I'm itching to start a couple baby girl quilts.. I have charm packs of Ellie Ann fabric and thinking it would so cute in a D9P!

Chriss... Oh you must keep the "I love you" pins just the way they are! How sweet of Marilyn to arrange them like that for you! I have a letter that Kaya tucked in my suitcase when I came home from AK. Think I will keep that forever too!

Dolores... sorry to her your DH's birthday dinner was such a bust! Definitely let the management know how terrible it was... only way things will improve is if somebody knows how bad they are!. I would suggest another birthday dinner somewhere else to make up for it!

Judi... I've always wondered why men think they are dying when they get sick. You'd think that the world was coming to an end! Love prairie points too and am thinking I might put them on my Truq-Red-White quilt that I hope to get back to one of these days.

Suzette... probably wouldn't be a bad idea to keep a spare key in your studio! My front door locks, but none of the other doors to my house have locks on them, so there's always a way to get in. I hardly ever lock my doors anyway.

Vicky....How it Tia doing? Is she counting the days.. I didn't realize she was due so soon!

Oh gosh, I better push self away from computer and get butt in gear and get ready for work! Two More Days! I can survive 2 more days! Have to work sunday but have Monday off to keep Bren and Evie for the day. Yippee. Think I might take them to a movie!

Wishing you all a most wonderful day!

Me again!

The kids just looked at the house and it is perfect for them - even room for my old LA that she has set up at the current house.

Yes, they just moved a couple of months ago, but that house is up for sale and being shown all the time and the kids are renting it month to month - no lease, so it can be sold out from under them at any moment, hence the move - the new house will have a lease.

Literally, the new house is as the crow flies, due west of me - about 2 blocks!

Working on my triangles - oh how I love El's methods! This is done the old fashioned way - cut each individual triangle and then sew the two pieces together! I will square them up using the triangle square up rule, so at least I will have square pieces to work with.

Hugs

Good afternoon from warm, sunny, purrrfect, SW. Pa...Another summer day, here in the east.....

It's been kind of a busy day so far...I had peaches that needed taken care of so Jim will be eating cobbler for dinner and he'll be so happy.....And speaking of, he left to help with the elderly bingo and will be gone all afternoon...I usually try to do some errands while he's gone but I think I've done enough running, well until maybe tomorrow.....I put clothes on the line outside and have been trying to get things back to order, finally, in this house....
The other day, Kathy sent me a huge, and I mean huge, box of pine cones...I've never seen cones this big! She had gathered them at Lake Tahoe and knew I'd LOVE to make something with them...The only thing, I'm stumped, so the pine cones are on the back burner....AND when Terry came, they brought all that yarn and now I'm in the process of sorting and sending a big box down to my friend in Florida....You think you get ahead of the clutter and just like that, there's more....

Chriss, you'll just have to get new pins...There is no way you can disturb that message..Every once in a while, I'll come across pictures or writings from way back and it really does make the heart feel good...Nicky has taken to writing me letters instead of e-mail and I've saved all those letters......Do you have something planned for the weekend?

Joan, what a scary trip that must have been and so glad to hear he's doing well....And what a super DH to suggest you stop in Paducah...A (non quilter) gal friend of mine was on a trip down that way and made sure she stopped and got me a birthday card...She wrote on it, got this card at "The American Quilt Museum" and thought how much I'd enjoy the place....The card was gorgeous......

Cindy, sorry to hear you have a nasty headache...Just yesterday, in flipping, Dr. Oz was telling what to do to get rid of a headache but you don't think I caught it.....I really should pay attention more than I do.....

Well, my mess isn't getting done without me.....

You all have a great day..............

Good afternoon :o) I didn't quite make the morning....but I have a good reason, been sewing :o)
Chriss, you should take a picture just in case they get messed up.
I'm taking a break right now from sewing to check in here and there LOL and I need to see what I'm eating for lunch and have the washer fixin to beep at me.
Carole, I can walk you through Photo Bucket anytime on the phone :o)
Dolores, that is awful about the food, service and price! Yes I would complain for sure!
I hope you all have a wonderful day! Prayers for those in need.
Tina
