OT: Do you have any info on the reliability of a Juki Serger

Post by TeresaK » Sun Aug 11, 2013 2:02 pm

A friend of ours (Wife has Alzhiemer's) would like to sell her Juki Serger. He says they have had it for 8 years. It is model #MO-634DE.

What have you heard of Juki's and their Sergers and what would you pay for it. I have seen prices ranging from $200 to $400.
We have been looking on the internet and have seen lots of info but I thought I would put it out to you all and see what you say.
Thanks :) :) :)

Teresa, one of my local sewing centers just started selling Juki machines. I have heard nothing but good about them. They have been around a long time...just not a brand people hear much. They have a price point for mid range prices. I have a good friend who is a Janome educator and she likes the brand.
I say if they are selling it at a decent price go for it..if your budget allows it. I have a Babylock that is 20yrs old and still does what I need it to do.
Good luck and let us know what you deicide

Thanks Sharon. Rob stopped in to talk to Matt (dealer and repairman who I bought my Janome from). He said to bring it in and he would take a look see. If it was solidly working then $200 was a good offer. His wife also teaches you how to use it for $25 a session. If I buy it then I hope it is a VERY LONG SESSION - LOL!!!!

I had a Juki on my first quilting machine. It wasn't a serger but I can say that the machine was a work horse. Just my two cents.

Had 2 different type serger worked well, the operator had to train her brain, after costly repairs l. drove over pin in fabric damaged plate, then rethreading it was numerous visits to the dealer for training. I built huge childrens clothing inventory, and sold little by little in boutiques 50% commission, now I start another inventory.
