Re: Saturday, June 1, 2013
Good almost afternoon from warm, sunny, gorgeous SW. Pa....Another purrrrrfect day......
Not much happening in this neighborhood, everyone is very quiet....We have a family next door who has 4 children, the youngest a baby, but the older 3 are old enough to be out but, you never, ever see them playing outside...The mother works, dad works from home and takes care of the kids and I have a feeling, everyone sits in front of the TV or computer all day playing games....It's just real strange, the only time my kids would be inside was when they didn't feel good and then it was a battle....Times have changed......
Tomorrow is our big day, Kathy will be home! We'll be driving into Pgh. airport after Mass and just driving to the airport is a hassle but now they have 1 of the tunnels closed which means double hassle...Jim even got out a map and I swear he almost had us going through Ohio...But, no matter, I'll be there when she steps off that plane, come h--- or high water.....
The washer and I are doing a few dances and that's about it....I might try to find some more spots to plant more flowers...My fingernails are so messed up, I might have to wear gloves to church.....
Chriss, hope you find your farmer's market....We have a bunch that just started in our area.....Nothing better than fresh veggies and fruits......
Yesterday was an anniversary of a deadly tornado that came through Pa. Our immediate area wasn't hit too badly but seeing all the destruction that has happened in the past week, really brought back memories....It's just so hard to believe...Prayers are being sent to all those who are in the path and have suffered so terribly...
And to all our quiltie friends, please stay safe....
And with that, I need to have another go-round with the washer...
You all have safe, great day.....
How could I forget! The PENGUINS ARE PLAYING TONIGHT!

Good morning all,
What a lovely morning here in the Great PNW! DGS has a ballgame later so I hope the sunshine lasts a little while longer!
Boy, what a morning I had yesterday.......I got in the shower around 5:30 a.m. Got good and lathered up, shampoo in my hair, and the lights go off. No storms or anything going on. We are on a well, which means we have a pump for the water.....powered by electricity, of course.
No electricity=No water!
Luckily, we bought a generator for just such emergencies. DH is faithful about starting it up every week or so, making sure it runs, making sure we have fuel, etc.
Anyway, I yell for DH and he gets up to go start the generator...I am still huddled in the shower, all lathered up....and I wait....and wait...and wait......no lights or water! I finally scrape off what I can and throw on a robe....lathered-up hair in a towel...and go outside. The ding-dang generator won't start! Must be a dead cell in the battery???? it wouldn't even hold a charge. Luckily, I had three gallon-size containers of distilled water in the house so DH poured those over my head to get rid of the shampoo! Boy, was that cold!
Still not sure what happened....must have been a car crash or something. It happened just down the road from us. There were a couple of poles down and the road was blocked off. I had to drive fifteen miles around to get to a point that is actually a mile and a half down the road from us which is where we have to turn off to go to work.
I was only three hours late for work, and boy what a sight I was....my hair was flat as a flitter (whatever that is) because there was not electricity for the hair dryer....good thing there were only two of us in the office. Luckily, we only had a couple of customers all day, so I didn't scare too many people.
Looks like it took them until after noon to get the electricity restored. Gotta love living in the country!
We will be buying a new battery for the generator this weekend!
I hope all of our Forum Family is safe from these awful storms...so heartbreaking, isn't it?
Well, I best go hit the shower (wish me luck!)LOL Almost time to get DGS to town for his ballgame.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Mel

Good Hot Afternoon!!!
Too hot to do uglies! LOL....went to iron my BOM top only to find it was missing a boarder...fixed that & pressed it.
Happy news for me my neighbor called to say a friend of theirs was coming over with a pot of American Chop Suey(it's a New England thing) & did I want to join them. I said yes! I made some brownies. I see cars across the street time for me to move....

Yes, tornadoes,we do get them out in southern part of MB and North Dakota..Our family and small town where I born did survive a few..Last one had torn all houses in twn apart, but no one lost life. We were fortunate enough to have Emergency Mennonite Organization, to help rebuild..Red Cross help with feeding workers during rebuild, our beautiful church was blown away, but when such events occur people come together and surround themselves with lots of love, caring and empathy for each other. Funny how skies create so much destruct and yet good things come outof all..

Must tell, held a quilt presentation with a well established quilt shop, of many, many yrs, nervous I was, but she encouraged me to return and offered to publish my how to workshop in her next newsletter. I was grateful for the opportunity and look forward to our nxt meet. Hope this leads somewhere.
