Good morning, we are leaving Fort Stockton and heading to Dallas. It will be a long day of traveling. We are going to spend two day there. A break from traveling. Yea!!!
Going to the G.W. Bush library tomorrow. I jut love thee presidential libraries. We stop at everyone we get a chance to. We will stop the St. Bush's on the way to Houston.

Since I shared all the bad stuff with DD, here is some good stuff. She says he is being so nice to here and is even offering to help with the driving of the kids to their activities.
We are wondering if the psych dr. Put him on meds. But, of course, his wife is another story all together.

Met with Tina nod her GD the other day. Jasmine is the prettier little girl and what a vocabulary for being 5. She is going to give Tina a run for her money. Lol. Our visit just flew by. Guess that happens when two quilters hook up. Lol

Happy birthday Vinae. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Hugs to all,

Carole

Happy Birthday Vinae!!!

Yesterday was a fun day with Debby. I found several different varieties of coral bells for my yard. I have lots of the old-fashioned ones I brought from Mom's last year, and they are doing real well--in full bloom, and the hummingbirds love them! The new ones have dark leaves, light variegated leaves, really light leaves with some coral on them, and dark leaves that look like they have been sprinkled with rose-colored paint. I also found a pretty light pink lantana to go with the two darker pink ones I had purchased earlier. I put them in a pot together.

After I finished all my watering and planting, DH had made a blue bird house and mounted it on a hedge post, and we took it to the cemetery and put it on Anna Mae's grave site (his late wife). The tree that had been there had died from the drought and too much weed-eater bark stripping. I think the blue bird house will be neat!

Today will be coffee with my friend, seeing Mom, getting groceries, and then... who knows? I'm sure it will be something as it always is. I need to do some laundry... I must finish my cabin blocks...

Teresa--glad Courtney is back! I'm sure she will fill you in on her travels.

Time to get moving... sorry I can't stay long today... Happy Saturday to All!!!

Good morning!

Just a quick pass through - it is raining outside - all night and still at it this morning - we need the rain! Saves me on watering the lawn! LOL

Sarah got her office moved from one building in the complex to the other last night - so she said she wants to come out here today and play in the dirt - well it is mud now - and she was tired - so we shall see ....

Michael has figured out how to hang the doors in the basement for my storage area - so that may get started today - another - we shall see....

So sewing is my plan - and feeding this hungry DH -

Have a great day
Hugs

Good early afternoon from warm, sunny, purrrfect, SW. Pa....

This is a perfect day to be outside but need to get things done inside first, darn....Jim had the laundry almost finished by the time I got up and now the sheets are on the line...I got him more plants and he just finished planting them, except the zucchini and flowers, that's my job...I was going to try to weed between the flowers that I had planted in the lot but I have no idea what's a flower and what's a weed......

I love reading about the girlie sleep overs, kids ball games and all those neat things....With the exception of the DGS that plays lacrosse, I miss seeing and doing all those things.....

I also can't believe we only have another week until Memorial Day weekend...Jim will need to get the graves taken care of one day this coming week.....It seemed, winter would never end and now spring will be gone....These days are flying by much too quickly.....

After reading through all the posts and seeing what all of you are doing, I need a rest and maybe a cup of tea.....

Happy birthday to our "birthday gal", and many, many more happy days.....

Best wishes and special prayers for all those who are hurting and in need......

Have a great day....................

Well, I'm late, but I got up and watched my favorite quilt shows before signing on. El did chickens today and I swooned! I've been away for what feels like forever, and just started peeking in at what's going on in Swaps, etc. a couple of days ago on a lunch break. I guess I took the loss of my sister even harder than I realized, and of course it was all complicated by Mom's near misses. She's doing amazingly well now, thank goodness. She seems to have some special secret for beating Death at his game! Just when I thought I'd never be able to drag myself back into the world of the living again, I managed one trip out of the house and it turned into all sorts of wonderful! The short story is that I've been VERY busy taking sewing (I made a wallet) and quilting classes, and of course all of the end-of-year insanity at school, so I've been busy, Busy, BUSY!!! But, I'm back to myself and happy again, thank goodness! Our DGS, Caleb, will be here VERY soon, by the look of DDIL's lowering belly! So, there's lots of activity going on here at home, too. I'm looking forward to a summer filled with quilting and sewing and school planning...and holding a baby! Only 9 more days of school!!!

TERESA, My back's been complaining lately, too. Last weekend I couldn't stand upright, and I made it to school Monday on 2 canes! Tuesday, it was MUCH better, but Thursday my ankle started in!!! I hope you enjoy a speedy recovery and make it out to the quilt show. (Antelope Valley? Apple Valley?)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, VINAE!!!!!

IRISH, I have a children's picture book entitled, A Weed is Just a Flower. I say, when weeding just pull out whatever you think is ugly. If it looks good to me, it's not a weed in MY garden!

JANA, I envy you that rain!

MIRIAM, I love the idea of a birdhouse at Anna Mae's grave site. I believe that's what I would like for mine...but not any time soon!

CAROLE, enjoy your library visit!

Chriss, I think you're brilliant to leave while Marilyn cleans her room! I hope you are successful in getting your grandma's things the way she wants them, and that you have a lovely visit and sew lots and lots of hexies!

MARYZ, Purple fairies...I can hardly wait to see it!

SHARONA, Happy Applique!

VELDA, Sounds like my favorite kind of weekend! ENJOY!!!

KATHY, I hope you get your rocking chair done so you can sit in it and quilt!

GRAMMIE, Enjoy your hockey game!

LOIS, Congratulations on your DD's graduation!

Suzette, Good luck to you! I wouldn't mind if you sent your rain out my way instead of letting it slow you down!

MEL, for years I've been planning on making soap. My neighbor told me a couple of years ago that she also intends to make some, so we decided to do it together...instead, we're still just planning to do it together someday! lol I guess some projects are fantasy projects!

Right now the jay is out on the back porch selecting which dog kibbles he wants for his brunch, and tossing the others around in the dish. I don't know why he's so picky, they're all alike! lol

Afternoon all,

Just a quick hello....need to get ready to leave for the ballgame. Looks like we will be enjoying a soggy game today! Of course, it had to rain. Oh well, I won't melt.

Soaping...just as addicting as quilting! Who'da thunk it!

I was watching a YouTube video on quilting one day, and when it finished, there was a video on soap-making, so I thought, why not watch it! Ha, that was the wrong thing to do. I have spent HOURS watching soaping videos. The science of it amazes me. I slowly started gathering supplies and now, here I am, a double-addict (quilting and soaping)! LOL What really cracks me up is that there are forums out there with soapers just like us quilters here on QIAD!

I would, some day, like to try my hand at selling it, but right now, it is just for me to use and give to friends/family.

Kathy and Jodie, go for it. I think you would really enjoy making soap. If you are interested, pm me and I can recommend some great video tutorials to get you started.

Time to go get ready. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day.

Hugs,
Mel

O'Dorothy and Jodie--there are no weeds... just flowers out of place. However, at my house--if they bloom and grow, they stay! I'm not too particular. If they are pretty, I love them!!! I think that buttery yellow dandelions in a green lawn are beautiful--emeralds and gold!!! I'm definitely not obsessed about perfection.

Mom was good today! I'm going in Wednesday and take photos of her baby quilt and vacuum her house for her. My niece is coming to visit her later in the week, so I'll spruce up her rooms for her.

Chriss--I'll try to get Mom to let me take a picture for you! Do you by any chance have an old QUILT magazine from March 2001? There is an article called My Favorite Quilter, and I submitted a story about my mom for it. Wonder of wonders, I got printed. My mom was thrilled to open her magazine and see an article about her with photos!!!
