Tossed Nine-Patch

Post by knitnoid » Sun Sep 30, 2007 8:22 am

After Labor Day, several friends and I went to the Patty's QID Trunk Show in Clinton, MO. Lot's of neat things. I really enjoyed the show. This was the 2nd year we went. One of the quick things she showed us was the Tossed Nine-Patch. I got the pattern and then promptly came home and started cutting 5" squares from my 30's stash.

What a quick and easy quilt to make in no time flat. It was completed with in a week, including quilting & binding -- just now got around to photographing it.

I love it! It's cheery and bright and looks very comforting. (But I don't understand how it's a 9 patch!? Are the bigger pieces really 4 pieces of the same fabric sewn togehter? And the 'bars' 2 pieces of the same fabric sewn together?) I'm too curious!

knitnoid, it is beautiful!

Now, will you go back and work on your compass star quilt, LOL, please....? I'm so curious to see what it'll look like when it is finished!

I love that! Just my kind of quilt. Might have to try that one with all the charms I seem to be collecting.

How cute! This would be a great pattern for a mission quilt when you need a quick fast quilt....Is that your 5" patch with a ....what size strips sewn to it?? I love it!

I want to ask the same question though....where do they get a "nine-patch" from this?

Thanks everyone for the comments. I promise I made this quilt with nothing but 5" squares - no strips. The secret is after the 9patch is made, it gets cut twice, then sewn back together.

Here's the link to the pattern:

As for my other UFOs, the Lone Star Compass will have to wait until at least next week. I'm finishing up a baby quilt for a new great-niece and I've got to finish a sweatshirt by Thursday night.
