QC Gets the White

Post by Quiltcreator » Thu Sep 06, 2007 9:35 am

Here is the reason that I haven't been on the forum much lately. I took this quilt to the State Fair on Monday and it's being judged today. It's called Trapunto Sampler. If you scroll down through the comments, you will see pictures of some of the individual blocks. I copied the trapuntoed designs from various books, but the overall design is my original.

Just returned from the fair - the quilt took the white ribbon in its class. Bummer - maybe I should have entered it in another class! But there are some seriously beautiful quilts there. And the overall best of fair is ALWAYS a hand appliqued, hand-quilted one. Guess we need a new judge, or I need to learn a new technique. LOL
I was also disappointed that they folded it up so small that you could only see the center blocks on the bottom 2 rows plus half of the one above it. And they did NOT display the picture I took them (in fact they forgot to put anyone's photos up - they will hear from me on that one!)

But check my Tennessee Waltz topic for some better news.

Spectacular, as always. I'll be very interested to hear how it did at the State Fair.

fantastic job. I hope they appreciate the workladyship, a lot of times those who do not do handiwork do not appreciate it.

One of the blocks:

The "fussycut" rose in the center was a total accident; I didn't plan it that way but was pleased with the way it turned out. In case you are wondering, the trapunto is done with blue acrylic felt. And no, it won't shrink nor will the color run.
