New Color Choices for Sara's Quilt

Post by maryq » Tue Jul 24, 2007 5:23 pm

Gals

This is a new color choice I am thinking of for the Pink Lemonade quilt I want to make for DDIL Sara.

What do you think?

Sara just bought an old Grandfather clock at a garage sale so I thought the fabric with the clocks on it would make a perfect center for the quilt!

Opinions please?

Pink Lemonade quilt would be great with those colors.

Ohhh, I love these fabrics. I'm sure she will love them. The fabric with the clocks is so unusual. I love it...

I'm not sure about the blue, but I like the others. In real life, does the blue work with the flowers?

Then the next decision is.

between the blue and the plain purple.. which one for the small blocks that will go with white background and which ones for the flying geese parts?

It's kind of hard to tell from the photo, but the fabric on the left with the small purple flowers has a little of the blue in it.

It's a fabric by Henry Glass and it's in the sale fabrics here at QIAD.. If you search the sale fabric for HENRY GLASS, then click on that and zoom in, you can see the small little part of blue!

I thought it might bring that out a little. Sara's colors for the wedding were blues and purples!

Mary - my opinion: lose the dark blue on the right. If the colors I'm seeing are true, it does not go. If you want blue, try to match the lighter blues in the fabric on top. If you lay these fabrics out and step back, even leave the room for awhile and then come back & look again, you will see what I mean. And you might also consider replacing the beige with a light pink print.

I don't like the blue on the right either. But the rest are gorgeous.

I agree with QC. I like the blue but it doesn't play well with the others.

Will those directional prints cause any problems in the pattern?

How about substituting a soft or med. green for the dark blue on the right? Or like QC suggested, a lighter blue. The dark blue is really pretty, use it in another project. When you look at the picture it's the dark blue that catches your eye first, and it doesn't compliment the other colors. But bottom line....it's your quilt, do whatever floats your boat! You will really love making the Pink Lemonade pattern, it's so pretty and fun to do. Why don't you make a sample block first and see how your colors and placement look. Then if it works for you, use the block to make a matching pillow.
