My new years resolution was to learn applique and to LOVE it.
This was my first attempt.

That is something to really be proud of. It is beautiful and I am sure the picture does not give it justice.

IowaGal, holey moley if that's your first attempt at applique then you are going places, girl. That is just beautiful. I hope you have done more applique as that seems to be one of your forte's. I'm sure you have many.

Iowagal, your applique piece is just beautiful!! I too, love applique. Oldest daughter, georgiapeach and I are makeing the QIAD Applique in a Day quilt for fussycut for her 50th. birthday. I couldn't tell, but did you hand or machine applique? Anyway, it is beautiful. I hope you are doing more!!

I used variagated thread for the veining. It is all by machine, hand sewing would land me in the nursing home before I got one done

This is something else. I don't think I could do that after a million years. It is very beautiful.
