Small quilts

Post by zfatcat » Sun Aug 20, 2023 12:37 pm

I made a couple small quilts to hang on the wall. I like to switch them out quite often.
The butterflies are made from all scraps. I used a bee stencil for the butterflies. I quilted it from the back with metallic thread in the bobbin. It doesn't show up as much as I thought it would. They both measure 13 1/2 x 18. They are fun to make and easy to quilt.

Those are nice. How do you quilt from the back?

Very cool, Lori! I especially love the butterflies because of all the pretty colors. So why did you quilt with the metallic thread in the bobbin instead of on top?

Mary, if you put the metallic thread in the bobbin, there's no pull. It doesn't break or pull.

Lori, there lovely. I especially like the butterflies too. I have heard about using metallic in bobbin.

I love the colors of your butterflies. We have a butterfly museum in Utah with live butterflies. The most popular are the blue morphia. My daughter works at the dinosaur museum so I’m able to see the various museums frequently. Very fun festive mini quilts.
