My sisters 50 – state flower quilt

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Sep 24, 2020 12:21 pm

My Visiting sister spent 50 years hand embroidering this quilt. One year for each state! LOL! But we have spent the last three days working to put it all together. She is hoping it will be a family heirloom to hand down to her great grandson

That’s beautiful. In a box given to me from man at church, his moms stuff was th flowers and state bird patterns. I’d love to do both but not on my high list of priorities right now. Hers is stunning. You said using a blanket as batting? HUMM🤔🤔 that’s gonna be hard on her to hand quilt.

Maryz, your sister's state flower quilt is so beautiful. She is perseverent, 50 years to make it. Nice choice of colors for sasging, borders and inner corners. It surely is a family herloom. Great jobs!

Wow, that does look like a lot of work. I have not embroidered in years, wonder if I still know how. Nice job and it will be a great family heirloom.

That is incredible! So beautiful. What a great memory for you, working together to add all the finishing touches. I agree with Izzy. Why did she choose a blanket for batting. It will make hand quilting tougher.
But maybe that will add to the fact that's it's going to be a family heirloom for many years to come.
Thanks for sharing. Great talents here.

Beautiful quilt and it is sure to be an heirloom.

I agree it is a mistake to use a blanket. Same as mistake women made when they use a sheet for the back.
