Here are Mary Z's crazy quilt blocks. I think they are so cool!!

Thanks, Tina, for posting my photo. I was unable to get on QIAD with my phone. These are 5-1/2" blocks. I jokingly said I was going to make a special project during the Covid quarantine - a crazy quilt! And Jana said, "Let's all do it! 5-1/2" blocks!" And so it began. This photo is my first 5. I want to make a king sized quilt so I need 441 (21x21 setting). I've cut 5-1/2" muslin squares for the base of the block and am sewing on scraps however they fit. When this project is over I really WILL be crazy! MZ

Yes, they are COOL! and will be even more fun with all the stitching on them!

Mary, you are so clever. This might even work for doing a table runner or table topper. Smaller projects work best for me. Might have to give this a try.
I suppose we could use just about any size base. Might try 8 1/2. ???
Is there a formula for choosing the base size to accomplish a certain size of finished block?
I think we have to add the 1/2 inch to allow for seam. Am I right?

Those ARE crazy but should make a great, lively quilt. It'll be a biggie, too.
