These are the patches I found. All I had to do was put the centers on and then put the dresden plate on the white square. She also had white squares cut out. There was no lattice material so ---- how do I put it together? I would like to put circle feathering in the empty blocks. Do I need lattice, and if I do, what pattern of material would you use to match the patches and tie it all together? The other 2 pictures are an attempt to see what it would look like with and without lattice. I will appreciate any suggestions. I would like to keep it as close to an original replica of the time it was started. I also like feather quilting on borders. I put it on point. Any help would be great. Thanks

I think I would use a blue lattice - probably a solid medium shade. Red would clash with the orange. Good luck with your project! :o)

What a treasure!

Go to Google Images and type in Dresdan Plate. There should be lots of pictures show up and give you some idea.

Definitely the blue lattice and the on point layout. These are very cool!

What beautiful blocks!! You are soooo fortunate to have them!! Thanks for sharing the photos.

I would definately buy 1930's reproduction fabric for your sashing fabric...they make solids, too. Most people don't think about using the reproduction fabric in solids, but the colors we buy now aren't the same. If you are concerned with keeping it in the same time period.

This quilt will be so beautiful! Blue would be pretty, and I've seen 1930's quilts with pink that are gorgeous. Check out the 1930's reproductions online..you may find something you really like!

I would do the sahing with Yellow repo 30s If you can find a yellow like the flower centers...making it very bright and sunny. It will be an amazing quilt no matter what colors you use. A 1930s green would also keep it in the flower garden theme.

As someone that works in a quilt shop.... nothing is more fun (or challenging at times) then when someone brings in blocks and we search 3000 bolts for the perfect fabric. If you have a quilt shop close by, I would take them in a let them help you play/audition different fabrics. You will be amazed what different colors or fabrics can do for you.

Those blocks are a treasure for sure!

What a treasure you have. One is as pretty as the next one. I too would take it to quilt shop and have them help me. Let us know what you pick.
