Results from Raffle Quilt

Post by grammy65 » Tue Apr 28, 2009 2:58 am

Unfortunately the quilt only made $356. It was a raffle quilt at my DGD state symnastics meet. The main problem was that we had a huge storm that weekend and only the essential people were there. A lot people like myself couldn't come because of the weather. Which meant a lot of friends and grandparents weren't there. Also, the quilt only means something to girls who participated in the meet. Next time I will make something that anyone could use. The girl who won was very happy and she is on my DGD's team.

It was still worth the effort to make it.

Oh, Diane, I can't believe it. This quilt is just gorgeous. Darn these storms anyway!!! I'm at home this morning because of storms last night and everything is flooded. We had 11". Anyway, I'm sorry your quilt didn't raise a lot more money but I know it's because nobody was there.

I think your quilt did really well!! Did you only sell raffle tickets for a day or two?? If so, that's a pretty good amount of money. I raffled a schoolhouse quilt at our antique machinery show, 3 days of selling and it made about $450. And yours is specific to the event, which as you said, limits it's interest. It is a gorgeous quilt...I just can't get over it!!

Thanks Joanne...that makes me feel a lot better. Tickets were on sale for the 2-day event, but the same people were at the event both days. I guess when you think about it, most raffle quilts have ticket sales for quite a while and are not event specific. If asked, I would do it again.
