Rag Baby Quilt

Post by Rose92 » Sun Jan 18, 2009 2:03 pm

Just finished this one for a co-worker. It is a new technique for me, fringing the seams. I used a panel, plus backing, and just put blocks around it. It was fun and easy.

That is really cute! I haven't tried this technique either. Did you use regular scissors to fringe the seams? I know there is a specific gadget for doing it, but wondered if scissors would work just as well.

That is the cutest quilt~! I just love it. I've not made a rag quilt so it would be new to me too. This really is just precious.

Sadiedaisy:

The half inch seams are snipped in 1/4 inch segments with regular scissors. Then machine washed and dried to do the fringing. You might be thinking of working with chenille...you need special tools for that. This is just flannel. The hardest part of the whole quilt was remembering to sew the seams so that they would show in the front...I had to rip quite a few and resew.

Thanks for the info., Linda. I will have to try one of those. They look so cuddly. LOL about having to remember to make sure the seams show. I think I would have the same trouble.
