First i like to try something to see if it works will it was going good But its not laying flat like it should. I use batting for that back of the fabric i cut the batting out just like the pattern well you can see it did not work well. I was trying to make it poffe.

It's cute Sarah - when I add batting to the back of applique I cut it just about an 1/8 to 1/4 inch smaller than the fabric, I also use a blanket stitch, doesn't take as long as a satin stitch :o)

Also, try using some sort of stabilizer on the back. I was told that puckering sometimes happens when your project isn't stabilized correctly. I ran into this problem with my embroidery machine a few times and found out the stabilizer I was using was too light (not heavy enough).

Good luck! And, she looks great other than the puckering.

Sarah
Whenever you do applique you need to make the background block larger. Did you cut the background then do the applique? Try cutting a larger than needed background, doing the applique, then trim the square.

Precious angel!

When you post with questions and pictures, it helps a lot of us for the times we encounter the same problems.

She's is a cutie-patootie :o) If you use a stablizer on the back, she will lay flatter. But, once she's in a quilted and quilted, she's going to lay flat anyway. Amie :o)
