First cut the fabric: Accent Band 2" x 41" Border Band 9" x 41" and Pillowcase body 27" X 41" The fabric is shown folded.

The trim is folded in half lengthwise and pressed with wrong sides together. Then pin the folded strip to the right side of the pillowcase body along one of the 41" sides with the raw edges matching. Sew a 1/4 inch seam.

Sew the french seams if you are not using your serger. First sew an eight inch seam with WRONG sides together. Next turn and press the fabric. Now with RIGHT sides together sew a 3/8" seam.

Image

Sew a 1/4" seam on short side of band forming a circle.

Attention for those of us who have sewn french seams. I think this is an error! The seam needs to be increased to 1/2" seams, if you have used french seams

Sew the Right side of the band to the wrong side of the pillowcase.

Press a 1/2-inch seam allowance along the long side of the band.

Turn to the right side of the case and align folded edge over top of previous stitching. You may find it easier to baste in place before top stitching.

Thank you! Wish I had seen this last night. I went home, found a pillow case and proceeded to deconstruct it. Made myself a pattern and just finished up 5 cases for CindyB. I skipped the accent border - but I think they still look OK.
