My current works in progress- #1
Went to a friend's house on Friday to use her machine. I simply HAVE to upgrade mine.
I've quilted the spring table runner that I made out of messed up 9 patch blocks. They are 6.25" by 6.5" and not perfectly square. Put a fun fabric on the back - just because.

I used decorative stitches to quilt it b/c we had a problem with her darning foot for stippling and I'm new to stippling anyway.

Any suggestions for binding the pointed ends? I usually use El's machine binding method.

turned out great - I use El's method on those strange corners too, you just don't fold it quite as far, and make sure it lines up with your side - did that make any sense?? I'm tired - I'm going to bed

That is really cute. The blocks "look" square to me. Can't be very far off. That neat back is so cute, a surprise when you turn it over. Thanks for sharing. Good job. Hugs, Shirley Mae

Wow, who knew my fabric from Marden's would be such a hit? I saw it there in ME last Dec. and thought for $2.99 I'd buy some. THEN I found a use for it. LOL Isn't that the way?
Littlebit, thanks for explaining how you bind pointed edges. It does make sense. I thought to do it that way but wanted confirmation before I went ahead with it.

Oh Dawne.....Mardens is great!! They now are even carrying Thimbleberries. I always get brand name fabrics there, including Jinny Beyer,Northcott,Benartex....etc, etc. Just have to check them all. I have learned to recognize the good ones by feel. Of course, I do check on the fabrics to make sure before I purchase. Some are even $2.69 a yd. Wide backings are now available there also.
Check again, next time you are in Maine.
By the way...which Mardens did you go to? Would love to meet you there sometime if possible. I go to the ones in Lewiston and Rumford.

mamaw,
DH has promised me a trip into ME just for a fabric hunt
We went passing through en route to Maryland last Dec.
I'd like to go back in summer so the weather is better.
I've been in the store in Calais and Ellsworth. I think the other one I've been into was Waterville or Lewiston. If DH was home I could ask him. We hit one heading south to MD and 2 on the return trip.
Would love to meet up and do some shopping next time I'm down. Will definately keep you in the loop.

PS -I bought some Thimbleberries too!

Dawne,
You make sure to message me next time you are in the area, so we can meet and maybe do lunch. I would love that!
One of my wishes is to spend a couple of weeks camping along the Nova Scotia coastal area. The way gas prices are going, don't think hubby will do it this year. We went to PEI and spent 10 days in 2004.
God Bless,
Nancy
