Here's the block I've been appliqueing, 1 block done, 43 to go. I think I'm going to do a little bit of practicing on an Overall Sam for DS.
My hamster, Moadib, came out of hiding yesterday long enough for me to get a pic:)

What sort of hamster is he? We promised my 9 (almost 10) year old a hamster and I have no idea what kinds to get. Are any of them friendier than others I would like him to at least be able to pet it.

She(at least we think it's a she) Is a Campbell's Russian Dwarf hamster. They're alot more friendly than Syrian(the regular big one) hamsters, but you have to buy them in pairs. They don't do well alone, which is why I was surprised when she came out. She's been a bit depressed since Digdug died. They also eat quite a bit less, and are only about half the size. The main thing I can tell you is to check out the shop before you buy. Some shops don't know how to treat the small animals, and they won't be hand tamed when you get them, and I wouldn't want a 9 or 10 yr. old trying to hand tame, they can bite pretty hard when they get scared. And the bigger the cage the better. Even though they're small, the more room they have to run around the happier they'll be, and the longer they live(the average life span of a Campbell's is 2-3 years, a Syrian I believe is 4-5 yrs.)

Nice job on your hand appliqueing. What technique did you use? I like your choice of fabrics. Your hamster is a cutie too.

I tried to use needle turn, but I couldn't get the seam allowances to stay down. So I got some fabric glue and glued them down so I could stitch them! Yeah, I'm a bit lazy:)

I recognize that Evening Primrose from the Magic Vine book!! I'm doing them, too, Missie, but I'm doing machine applique. Lots of fun, but lots of work, too.
Your hand applique is BEAUTIFUL!

Thanks everyone:) Gmaann, that's exactly right! Glad to hear someone else is doing them. I was going to do it by machine, but for some reason I can't seem to get the electric machine to work right(I'm doing something wrong, I know). What type of fabrics are you using? I'm going to be using repro's for the whole thing. Can't wait to see yours:)
