Re: My sewing room
Linda...I'm going to have to send DH out to get some masonite. I love the way it stores all the fabric. It looks organized too. Every time I'm looking for something, I have to tear up all my stash, and then it's a mess again.
Your room is so light and airy. Good old California sunlight.

Thanks for the pics Linda..it's so great to have a face other than the one in my mind. LOL Also, love your cutting table...it'ws be on my Christmas list, however, for some reason my family doesn't think I need things like that so they ignore the hints!

Re: My sewing room
Maryhomespun,
For years I sewed at the dining room table. It wasn't till my kids grew up and moved out that I finally had a place to sew comfortably. My room is always a mess when I am working on a project but once it is finished, I have to tidy everything up before I start the next project. I just can't stand to have everything in havoc. Now, the rest of my house . . . well, that doesn't count. lol

Do you think if I batted my eyelashes at the guy at Home Depot he'd cut the masonite for me? I have a circular saw somewhere... oh wait DS #1 seems to have walked off with it! I sure could use that to roll up some of my fabric.. especially the TRUCK load i just ordered!

Re: My sewing room
Nancy, a few times when I've gone to HD to get some wood, they have cut it for me. Guess I look like a helpless old wowan! I made shelves for my porch many years ago and bought a plank of oak--they did cut it for me.
I might have to make a trip to HD this afternoon. I found a huge piece of peg board in my old building---need some 1/2's to frame it so I can put it above the cutting table.
Oh OH another PROJECT!

So - how's the new project coming? Are pegboards supposed to have frames? Mine don't. I don't think I will tell dh they are not quite done yet. I want another one put up. If it's even more work, I will never see it done. teehee

Linda, What a great set-up. I am new to this website, and have been looking at all the different pictures of sewing spaces for good ideas. Thanks for sending in your pictures! You have given me some great ideas! Dot

Quiltsbeme
which project??? LOL OH the fabric rolling and peg board? HA HA
Haven't done a thing with the pegboard, am hoping a neighbor of mine will help me make a frame for it. Just some little wood on the back so that the peg board will stick out from the wall a little so I can put the pegs on. I have a TON of pegs, took them from the drug store before we sold it. Actually I think there's still a bunch up in the old building.
I've been rolling my fabric around my large ruler and that's been working great! I fold in 1/2 selvage to selvage and then in 1/2 again. Over the weekend I've gotten most of it rolled and arranged according to color. Am going to take a photo of that this weekend and post. Looks so much nice and much easier to find something. I had bought 4 milk crates to put in, but so hard to get something out of the bottom! I'm sure I can find something else to use the milk crates for. Maybe all the PAPER I have in my scrapbook room! AARRGHH!!
I have friday off, going to stay home from the cabin, putts around the house and then go down and see Mom on Saturday!
Can't wait til friday... it's PAY DAY!

Re: My sewing room
Hi Dot, welcome to the forum. I am so happy to have you join in on lots of discussions. There are so many fun and loving members here. I know you will fit right in.
I have to tell you, my sewing room only looks neat like this before I start a project. I can't stand to start something new when I have "stuff" scattered all over. I like to work in a neat and organized room. Now, someday when I get really brave, I will take some pictures of my room when I am in the middle of a project. lol
