Nadine, Your home is so beautiful!! Sounds like your sewing room or should I say wing sounds wonderful. When I lived in Michigan and then New Jersey - I use to love to look out the window and see the beauty of mother nature. Now that I live in Arizona - I do not want to feel or shovel snow ever again. But I do love to look at it. I use to love snow days with the children.

Please be careful if you have to go outside - ice is very dangerous whether you are walking on it or driving on it. Is your pond frozen solid? Be safe.

I don't have any pictures of the birds by our lake...I guess because my camera is not good enough to zoom as far as I'd need to get a good picture. I'll try to get one of the cranes for you though. Sometimes they wander close to the house. In fact they are not afraid of people and you have to be careful with the little children because when they run after the birds there is a 50-50 chance the bird will stand it's ground. And they are about 4 feet tall with beaks about 8 inches long!!!

I'll try to take a night picture of our snowman under the palm tree in the front yard. The tree is real..the snowman isn't!!

Hi Carole our pond is not frozen solid yet just a little on the top.

LynnS can't wait to see some of your pictures those birds sound scary I don't want a bird 4 ft tall and a 8" beak chasing me!! I can't run very fast anymore!! LOL

We are supposed to get more freezing rain between tonite and noon tomorrow and then again tomorrow night. I don't know if the trees will make it. I just took the dogs out to go to the rr and I heard some really heavy branches falling in the woods. It sounds like we won't have any trees left!

Hi Bev! Looks like my town! DH got called at 6 am due to outages. He should be home at 11 tonight and then back out again at 4 in the morning. We're supposed to get more tomorrow as well. I'll try to get some pics from my corner of MO.

Your place is very beautiful! I love the deer! Oh, and the view from your sewing window. And the view of the pond! Be safe over there! I drove to St Louis and back today and I'm tired! It was okay but kinda tense.

Thanks for the pics!

Well, I finally managed to get online. The view out of our windows looks the same. Power went out yesterday morning and was off for about 6 hours. Lots of ice and trees bending and breaking off. Sure wish the temps were about 75 and the sun was shining !! Am sure glad that DH and I went to town on Saturday and stocked up on groceries. And I guess the upside to all of this is that I can't get out and go anywhere, so I now I have lots of time to sew !!!

Nadine - I know this has to be hard to live in day in and day out, but those are actually very pretty pictures. Post card perfect. I love that little log cabin hanging in the tree.

DANG that looks cold!! The ice is so pretty, though...looks like the winter fairies have been busy.

Not to rub it in, but I was thinking of heading over to the beach on the winter solstice to watch the sun go down. If it isn't raining...

Remember the movie "A Christmas Story"? Ralphie's mother said "Those icicles have been known to kill people!"

Oh and I saw 6 cranes today, up close along the road. I think the beaks are more like 6 or 7 inches. Still pointy and scary though!

It is so beautiful after an ice storm. As long as I have electricity I don't mind them. Your pictures are beautiful.
