Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Sounds like mom was VERY pleased. To me there is no better gift than a quilt to give to the ones we love most.

GP, I had a quilt that I was afraid of machine quilting because of the backing and I layered the quilt top and batting. Did some quilting and then put the back on and did some stitch in ditch. Worked good. (I can't do free motion but I use machine embroidery stippling)

My dear catwoman, I hope you enjoy this quilt! Every stitch was made with love and thoughts of my sweet mom! You have a matching pillowcase soon to follow, and the quilt is supposed to arrive on Friday. I took this quilt everywhere I went to work on it, it's been to the cabin, the office and here at home...you might say it's a "well traveled quilt" and now it's heading to Arizona! When you wrap it around yourself, consider it a great big hug from me across the miles!!! I love you dearly, mom, you are the light of my life!

Cyberspacequilter, my oldest son said the same thing about it! It reminded him of Blue Willow china. Angie, minipeach, the grandmonkey and I all love the Blue Willow pattern, so we decided that I should get some with lots of place settings and divide it up between them after the family has made lots of memories with it!

This was a really fun quilt to make, too. Good thing, because my kids and DH want ones like it in their favorite colors! catwoman, it's a miracle I got it in the mail without one of your grandkids kidnapping it first! LOL! It was safe from the guys because of the floral, but the girls..... LOL! The guys want one with the large blocks of "woodsy" fabric or masculine stuff.

October (wow, that's only a few days away!) is my anniversary! I started quilting 2 years ago. I'm going to celebrate by starting a new quilt! LOL! This is a big deal to me because when I started quilting a whole new world opened up for me. Little did I know I was in for the time of my life....I thought I was just going to make a few quilts! HA!...look where it lead me...to the most wonderful and special friends EVER!! Ya'll make the sun shine so much brighter for me, love ya'll to pieces!!

nanjam, thanks for the tip! Great idea! I had so much fun making this one and plan on several more like it in different fabrics, so I will definitely give your suggestion a try! Those large open spaces really scream for some fancy quilting, too! I love to do free-motion, especially feather wreaths, etc.. but couldn't figure out how to do that with Minkee on the back. Thanks a bunch!

Oh, GP, what a lovely quilt! I love the way you mitered the stripes in the border. You have a real gift; it's hard to believe you have only been quilting for 2 years!

It is so pretty. I haven't made a two color quilt yet but this pattern almost asks for just 2. You did a fantastic job. I guess it was worth not hearing from you for a week or so if this is what you were creating. We missed you terribly but now you're back with us in full swing. Happy Anniversary, you are a natural!
Have Fun,
