Re: 2 UFO's completed
These are for a special friend who is in her 80's. She has really struggled this year with health problems. She was an avid quilter, but decided a couple years ago that she wouldn't be quilting anymore due to health issues and she gave me her stash of fabric. I have been using it over the last few years to make quilts for others, but decided it was time to do one for her. The center blocks are from 4 patches she had put together and I had some parts of a piano key strip left from another quilt so I used that around the 4 patches. Then I was just experimenting with some other of her fabrics and made the hst blocks. Her husband was a music professor at the local college and they had 2 pianos in the house which she gave away a few years back, and he played the violin which her only granddaughter now plays so that is where the idea came for the violin blocks. I hope the piano keys and violins have special meaning to her, and that she'll enjoy seeing so many of her own fabrics that she has used through the years in the quilt. She is still caring for a grown daughter who is mentally handicapped, her other dd, dsil and dgd are in another state, and her son is across the country. The tumbling blocks is for her to give him - in her stash she had bought fabric to make him a quillow so this is from her fabrics for him. He has been a lost sheep and nothing would bring her more joy than to see him return to the Lord before she goes home. Sorry this is so long, just wanted to share the story of my friend - I hope to be like her when I grow up!

That was such a wonderful thing for you to do. I am sure she was overwhelmed with joy. You did an awesome job and should be proud of yourself.

how lovely, loving and thoughtful! Some one is being truly blessed by your work. And it is Great work! I love violins. There is a 'fiddler' in the family, I am saving a picture of that one for future reference.
