Thanks everyone for the comments...

QuilterBee.. I did stay at about 7 dollars... everything else was from my stash... even the fabric to make the hanger... I did have to buy buttons and the zig zag ribbon, one fat quarter, scraps Eleanor threw, and the notepad and magnet... I am a newbie but tried to stick to the rules... I try to make the month special without going broke... I am bummed you are not joining the next month...

I have enjoyed the Secret Pals the last 2 months and sorry to hear a few rotten apples have ruined it for some very special ladies here... that is a shame!

Cheers!

Alina, I do the same thing as you do. I always make something for my secret pal using whatever I have on hand and then add FQ's and other odds and ends that I have on hand that I have no intention of using. I also buy things that are on sale, such as, purse size Bath and Body Works lotions, shower gels and soaps that are on sale for $1. and other little nice gifts that I find at Michael's and Target in their $1 bins. It is easy to keep it under $5.00 if you are get creative and use what you have on hand. This month I actually only spent about $4.00 to buy what is going to my secret pal. Oops, maybe I shouldnt have said that.LOL I don't want her to think I am being cheap or anything.LOL

Amie, sorry to hear that you are not joining us next month.

Ann... I too LOOOOOOVVVVE the dollar bins... Michael's' and Target are my favs too... I stock up whenever I get in there...I don't think our pals will care how much we spend.. at least I hope not... I try and put my heart into it and make something special... it is also a challenge for me to come up with something new for everyone... I really enjoy that! By the way I loved your pincushion... too cute!

Cheers!

Alina, I agree, I try to "put my heart" into my gift also. I do not work outside the home and with one income and a DD that will be going to college this next fall, I can not afford to spend a whole lot. I look for little "gift" items wherever I go and I would hate to see the secret pal swap die out.

Alina, Whoever you SP is, she is going to be SO happy! I love the notion holder!!! And all the goodies! It'll be like Christmas morning!

We are a single income family too, so I am always on the lookout for sales, clearance items, etc. I just buy stuff when it's marked down and have a box of items to choose from... I also never let a Michael's, Hobby Lobby or Joanne's coupon go to waste. They can save you a LOT! :-)

Gwen... I too just recently put a box together labeled secret pal goodies... whenever I go out I am always thinking "hmmm that would be a good prize" It is amazing all the fun inexpensive goodies are out there! I also am constantly straightening my sewing room and finding things I have extra of! I still think the best part of the SP is too get the card or note telling all about my pal... I hope my pal doesn't think I babble toooooo much.... sorrry! Hahahaha!

Cheers!

I wish I had the time to be creative with my SP gifts. The pretty things you girls create make me ashamed to send my stuff to my SP's.

Cindyg, I'm sure everyone appreciates what you send out. It's just nice to get mail from someone so don't worry about what you send. It's definitely not a competition. I think I've only made one small thing that I sent out and everything else was purchased and/or in my stash (which was purchased at some point). The best thing about the SPs is the connection we make with one another so I would love to have any of you for my SP. :)

I agree with Sadiedaisy... I love anything that someone takes the time to send... my favorite thing is the personal note about the pal... I think everyone here who participates in this swap just wants to get to know our pals... and like she said everyone loves to get something special for just them in the mail!!!

Cheers!
