Evie, it was kind-of the QIAD method! I used water soluable stabilizer on the back of the squares (wasn't sure about the poly. being able to take the heat on the fusible).... I used invisible thread (first time being successful with that - yeah!) to attach the flowers to the backing....
and yes, it was hard to quilt! It would break my top thread several times doing one flower, so I wasn't able to quilt them as much as I wanted. However, I used cotton batting and it said it was ok to quilting 6" apart, and so I quilted around each round of the flowers.
Oh, and the quilting as a loopy pattern. It was fun to do!

What a great quilt. Awesome job, this block is tough enough with good cotton's, I am sure it was a bear with the polyester.
