Re: finished ufo
kadie, a Christmas tree skirt is something you put under your tree to cover the tree stand and decorate the bare floor before you put gifts under your tree.
At our house the tree skirt is visible until Christmas Eve. DH has this tradition that gifts mysteriously appear one or two a day starting a week or so before Christmas. These gifts are usually small and he pushes them all the way to the back of the tree so the girls have to crawl under the tree to find what has appeared. The girls love this little game and look forward to it every year. The larger gifts and Christmas stockings are not put under the tree until after bedtime on Christmas Eve

How pretty is that! It's much better than my christmas table cloth with a hole cut out! Someday I'll get around to making me one!

Re: finished ufo
zfatcat, Christmas is my favorite holiday and its not just getting gifts that I enjoy. I love decorating my house from top to bottom, inside and out. We have 3 christmas trees, one in the living room, one in the family room and one on my upstairs landing on a window seat. This tree skirt is actually not as big as it seams. This one will be for the window seat tree that is about 3 1/2 to 4 ft tall. I have a larger skirt that I made about 17 years ago that is cross stitched depicting the 12 days of christmas for the family room tree. That one is the one that holds the gifts.

Must feel *great* to have it finnished.
The gold metalic thread really put a sparkle in that.
