OMG Homespun. That quilt just knocked my socks off! You did a fabulous job on it. That's another quilt I would like to make some day.

I still have my Lone Star pieces cut out and in strips from a class. Could not figure out how to put them together - went to teacher - she said I sewed them together wrong - this is what happens when there are more students than teacher can handle at one time. Not saying that I didn't make a mistake, but had her check my work also. Oh, well, will unsew and put together one day. want to do an easier Lone Star.

Anyway, nice job.

The Lone Star/Radiant Star is a real challenge to make; I love yours, the colors work beautifully together! Are there 3 borders on it or just 2...?

Thank you everyone! It really came out a lot better than I expected and it wasn't as difficult either (especially with El's instructions!)

CaroleJ, there is only one border around the whole quilt and then the maroon border around the star part so I guess that would just be 2 borders. I suppose I could have done 2 around the whole quilt, but I really liked the dark purple and since I sort of winged it with my own design, I didn't want to get too complicated trying to figure out how wide the borders should be. I'm still not the best at figuring out how much fabric I need. I usually get a little extra "just in case" and so I end up with a TON of extra fabric!
