*Smile*

*Great* job Maria. What a cute baby quilt. I Love your choices of colors.

I also did the free motions stitch in the ditch for a lap size trip around the world quiltop on my Juki sewing machine. SOOO much easier, and no more turning back and forth.

What a great quilt for a little girl. Points look fine to me!

How do you "free motion in the ditch"? Sounds interesting.

Beautiful as all 6 of your quilts have been! I really like the fairy frost. Perfect use for it. I love the multicolored batik, but then I like all batiks. And I think the sashings being dark makes the blocks come up nicely.

Have you given the buttefly quilt away yet? That was a darling quilt, loved the little frog and dragonfly you added.
Have Fun,

Thanks again girls, you are so kind!

Bransmom, instead of using a regular foot or a walking foot when stitching in the ditch, I used the darning foot and the feed dogs down, just as you would do for "real" free motion. That way, you can stitch in the ditch in all directions - back, forth, sideways - without having to twist and turn the quilt around every time your ditch changes direction. So, I guess it is really just free motion but in straight lines...

Oasis, yes, the butterfly quilt has been delivered to its new owner! She spotted the frog right away, and then spent the afternoon playing hide and seek under the quilt :-)

So pretty! The light pink Fairy Frost showed up nicely, I can see the sheen in it!

Beautiful quilt, Maria. Thanks for the additional ideas for free motion. I took your suggestions, especially the one about dropping the speed and it is working out well.

Just have 1 other question about the Sapphire. I clean out the bobbin area that I can see when I take the bobbin "innards" out. But there is probably lots more lint in the arm. Do you worry about that or is there a way to clean it all out? The instructions say not to use canned air or it will blow the lint into the machine.

Linda
