As far as I know the name is the "puff" or "biscuit" block and it is a Japanese technique.I had never known how excelletn the Japanese ladies are at craftwork.

Great work on the basket. It is an exceptional quality. And the eggs are wonderful. I had a friend that did the wax relief eggs. I have several of the eggs he made. However many of them have broken but I have saved the eggs as best I I could. He passed away several years ago. He was very tallented.

Nice basket...interesting puff technique. My ex was born in the Ukraine and we had magnificent embroidery, pysanky (intricately decorated eggs), and detailed wooden picture frames that I treasured.The picture below shows table linens and pysanky very close to what I had.

Inka: your work is gorgeous as usual and the fabrics are wonderful. I have always admired the Ukranian eggs and wish I knew how to do the art work.

Teacupdeligh, you pysanky are beautiful! (Am I right that "pysanky" means "egg shells that we write on"?)
azgal70, although I am not from the Ukraine I had seen some of these eggs before and like them very much ... I wish I could learn this technique which is much more complicated than the relief one. The technology, the shapes and patterns, the dyes - all seems to be a local secret.Last but not least - I will never be able to understand, how those ladies can draw such NARROW and symetric lines on that rounded egg shell!
