Thank you all! The diamonds were made from 4 1/2" strips that are seamed with another strip. The one I was most surprised that I liked is the last one - I used fabrics for the diamonds that I'm trying to use up, all with a blue/navy or red/brick colors which are not my favorite. Then once I started adding the borders - green pencils, piano keys, then book shelves, I really liked it by the end. I still have more of that fabric to use, but I have to do something with 'pretty' fabrics next!

I know there is a trick to working with diamonds but looking at SO many in one quilt...just gives a WOW response. Looks like it is so hard and took a lot of time.

Loved the houses and churches too.

question for you. The first quilt that you couldn't fit in one photo. How did you deal with the batting? Do they sell batting big enough or did you piece it?

dawne - I use a batting sold at Walmart and its large size is 110"x110". It used to be 120"x120" - not sure why they downsized. It was tight making sure the top fit over the batting and backing - not one I would have wanted to take to a long arm quilter because I didn't follow many of the rules! It was a work out on my shoulders to wrestle it through my machine, but it always is! The diamonds were pretty simple, you take two strips of contrasting fabric that are the same width, right sides together, sew both length edges together, then get your ruler and use the markings for 60 degree angles and start cutting down the strips with the edge of the ruler just cutting off the seam at the top of the triangle so that each set of triangles are only attached at the base of the triangle and when you open them us you have a diamond!
