The rotating cutting board wasn't in my budget either... so I put my thinking cap on and came up with a plan similar your DH's Ann..

Got a Rubbermaid turntable at Walmart and then used the small cutting board I had that has the pressing side on one side... I haven't glued them together, but use that rubbery matt stuff that keeps things from sliding.... that way I can also flip the matt over for pressing too.

Has anybody ever worn out their cutting matt so that there are holes in it!!! I just looked at my June Taylor matt....on the 0 line I've used it so much, I've cut just through the matt!!! I've turned it around, but eventully it might be time for a new matt!!!

Wow marymargaret ... I've been using the same mats for years and haven't managed to cut through one yet, but like everything else I'm sure there will come a day when I'll have to replace one of them. :(

I like that it has the handle and you can hang it on your pegboard. Cool!

I must be stupid too because I bought the rotating mat for a small fortune I might add.

A husband of a friend of mine made her one but it was wobbly. I agree they are outrageous in price. SewSew's looks like the bottom is big enough to be steady when you are cutting. The friends also tended to turn when you were cutting. Bad idea when that happens.
