Alaska trip

From the ferry as we moved into Skagway, AK. Ferry ride was 3 nights. The four of us shared a 9x12 “Stateroom” with 4 surprisingly comfy fold down bunks.

We are now in Whitehorse, Yukon and today driving up Klondike Hwy to Dawson City. Tomorrow we cross the Yukon River on a tiny ferry, the George S Black. A 4 min ride. When my brother takes his semi on this ferry, his front and back bumpers hangover the ends of the boat. They put two or three other vehicles on either side of him. When they land on the other side, they run the ferry aground and cars drive off. Every fourth or fifth trip across the captain jumps off the ferry and onto a bulldozer and grades the landing. The Top of the World highway comes next and it is ~130 miles of mostly dirt and gravel, but wildlife is abundant – bears, grizzlies, caribou, and more. We will be at my brother’s on Thursday afternoon

What a beautiful scenic view! When we were an Alaska cruise a few years back (inside passage) I was in awe of the most beautiful mountains and blue shades of water from the ice. Serenity, peace and a calmness. I now know what it felt like to be in "GODS PARADISE". Enjoy your remaining time.Diane

Gorgeous! I want to do a ship cruise up the inside passage, but alas, I'll live through your pictures. Michael has been on a ship, so he says, he's been there and done that, so not again. Enjoy your visit with your brother and say hi to Santa for me!
