Carolyn, sometimes it's scarry to do things out of our comfort zone but how else do we learn. I have to push myself most of the time but in the long run the outcome is great and I'm so proud of myself and you should be too. Lucie

Carolyn that is so cool I would have loved that class! Betsy is amazing! Her free form blocks are more precise than mine with a ruler. lol1

Carolyn, What a fascinating class! Wish they had one here like that.

I didn't realize that most of what I do is freeform except I throw in a ruler now and then just to be able to use a rotary cutter and a straight line. I have a terrible time following a pattern. Maybe I just live outside the box instead just thinking outside the box. LOL I just do things until they fit and don't look too wonky.

You and Betsy both ended up with a wonderful project filled with memories. Hope you can continue to explore the fabulous world of quilting in a different way. The world is full of opportunity for those who are willing to reach out and grab it. Happy quilting for you both.

Hugs, Shirley Mae

I really enjoyed your scrapbook construction journey on this quilt. I missed the Gees Bend quilters when they came to Nashville but SIL and some of her prayers and squares quilters went when they were in Louisville and loved the quilts and the women making them. Denia that goes to the Paducah show with us is African American from the south and she said the Gees Bend women would sing as they quilted together and she was so touched when they started singing a spiritual that her mother sang to her as a young child. I really regret not getting to see them so if they are in your area on tour, it is apparently worthwhile to see them, their quilts, and to hear their story.

That looks like it would have been a very interesting class to take. I love your scrapbooking and the quilt is very nice also.

What a beautiful project. It is good to step outside of the box now and again. It broadens or knowledge and skills. You did a great job. I'm proud of you for doing this.

Thank you Carolyn. I missed them when they were in San Francisco. What a great class. Great works of art.
