Here is a little history about the saltbox. The saltbox is a style of house that was popular in New England in the 1600-1700's. It has a peaked roof with an elongated rear slope. It was called a saltbox because it is shaped like a wooden box in which our ancesters kept salt. Although ours is a reproduction not an antique saltbox, we love it just the same!!

I just googled saltbox last night after seeing this block and got lost reading the history of architecture. What a great house! How fun to have a history behind the style of house you live in. I love your daughter's block it is wonderful.
