Pressing seam allowances from Inka

Post by calicopuzzle » Wed Aug 13, 2008 5:02 am

After having problems with a pattern instructions for pressing seam allowances, Inka asked me to post these pictures for her--I also posted them on the "technique" thread. She said if it helps just one beginner quilter, the pictures will be worth posting.

I just want to add that the very last picture is exactly what you should NOT do - press the seam allowances of ALL blocks in the same direction - they need to alternate!

This all starst with the CENTER of the block ... My Puss in the Corner could be pivotted to abut with the Star block but that just delayed the problem - it reached me when I was joining the rows!
