You guys are all wonderful. I have passed your compliments to my friend Lorraine. She and I live about 10 min. from each other and have known each other for a few years now.

When I decided to try a quilt last summer I asked for her help. I knew that she knit, crochets and quilts. Turns out she hadn't been quilting for awhile - and I sort of inspired her to get back to it.

The quilt in earth tones is for a man named Danny. When I got the idea to reach out to him Lorraine jumped right on board. I coordinate the collecting of blocks. We were supposed to piece the top together but I injured my rotar cuff. Thank God for Lorraine. She was QUITE wonderful, jumped right in to pick up the slack.

The blue snowball quilt (for lack of a better name) is a top we've made - just till needed. We'll hold onto and then get it to someone when the need arises. We were able to do that b/c petlover sent matching blocks.

We're currently working on a quilt for a couple who had a Christmas Day home fire near my house. The tentative plan for this quilt top will feature 3 log cabins from petlover in the centre. Lorraine is trying to create a log cabin block so that it looks like it came with the other 3. We'll build out from there using several blocks from other members.

You'd be amazed at how much symmetry you can find in these 'sampler' comfort quilts. It's all about laying the blocks out, playing with the arrangement. It's quite fun actually :) And I'm learning quite a lot about different block patterns.

Due to the generosity of the forum members here we should be able to make about 5 quilts. One of them from a set of coordinating blocks (thanks Checkers) that feature playful, colourful fabrics. Others will be a mix of blocks.

More pictures to follow as they become available!
