Janome 12000

Post by Abbigail » Tue Mar 27, 2012 4:53 am

I just recently bought a Janome 12000 and need some help. Where does the needle have to be set to achieve a 1/4 inch seam? I have it set over on 8.8 but that really seems like a hhigh number to have the needle moved over. Any help any one?

are you using the 1/4" foot? Did you buy the machine from a dealer? Contact the dealer and ask them if they offer classes on how to use the machine. My LQS has you make an appointment to pick up your new machine so they can show you how it works. Good luck

I have the 1/4 foot but even with that I still have to move the needle over. I bought it locally but I;ve had foot surgery and can't get out and about to well yet. I was hoping I could get in some sewing while I'm off work.

I don't have the 12000 but I have the 10000 and I usually have to move my needle over 2 "clicks" with the 1/4" foot. Just play with it and move the needle 1 click at a time, then slowly turn the wheel with your hand and see if the needle bumps the foot or not. Then do a test stitch out and see if it is a 1/4". If not, do it all over again, just making sure you check with your hand first so you don't shatter a needle when it hits the foot. Other than that, use the F foot and move the needle over as far as it will go and that usually will give a 1/4" seam also. I do that sometimes when I am too lazy to find my 1/4" foot for a quick seam.

Good luck

First of all congratulations on your getting the Dream Machine, I too have a Janome 10001 and I just love it. Had the 9000 before that, and would love, love to have the new one. I set mine just one click over on my machine it's 4.0 and I use the 1/4" foot, some times I go two clicks over so just play with it and you will find what works best for you. If your LQS offered free classes as they should have, I would be sure and take them. That machine will do everything except pay your taxes for you. Just my little dab of humor on the last day to pay taxes.
