Pfaff 7550

Post by TooMuchFabric » Sun Mar 14, 2010 3:13 am

I have had my Pfaff 7550 (purchased used) for about 15 years and just discovered how to get a consistent 1/4" seam yesterday. I should be embarrassed but I am so excited. You can move the needle over in tiny little increments.

Now everyone who has one of these machines may have already known this but if not, I wanted to share the info!!!

Happy Stitching!

I have a Pfaff 7550 that I bought used about a year ago. I love it! I knew how to move the needle for a 1/4" seam, but I can't figure out how to change the presser foot pressure-do you know how? Sometimes I want to have less pressure when doing applique. I've checked the manual, but there is not a lot of information in there. Thanks!

Sadie, I don't know how but will look into it soon. You know after 15 years and just learning to do the 1/4" seam I feel really silly.

One of the ladies that I go to quilt guild with has a much newer Pfaff machine and was talking about it not having the serpentine stitch. I looked and mine doesn't either. I found that odd since nearly every other brand on the market has the stitch. (One of the other ladies in our guild uses the stitch on lots of quilts because if you aren't in the ditch no one ever knows!)

I have a little handbook along with the manual and I will see what I can find about the presser foot pressure.

Thanks for your help. I noticed that it didn't have the serpentine stitch when I wanted to stitch the binding on that way once. I wondered if I had just missed it somehow, but now I know for sure. I guess Pfaff doesn't care for that stitch.

Just saw this thread - I have a Pfaff 2144 and I do have the serpentine stitch on mine and a ton more. I also bought the 1/4 inch foot for my machine - much more accurate than moving the needle over - any questions - just ask me - this is the second Pfaff that I have owned and love them

auntjana, do you know what the stitch is called on the Pfaff? About when was your machine manufactured? I think the 7550 was around 1994 - 1995.

I have mine for 7 years - I think - that would make it around 03 or 04

Mine - the 2140 and 2144 replaced the 7550 and they stopped all support from Pfaff for model 7550.

The stitch on my machine is #46 - looks kind of strange but it is a sepentine stitch. You adjust the length and width to make it how you want.

Pfaff has now replaced mine as well with a newer model and stopped all support again - but I have had no problems and have all my software so I am fine. The dealer had updates for my machine of new stitches that he added to the computer chip in the machine.

To change the pressure on the tensions - look at the computer screen and you will see the symbol for that and that is how you can regulate it for applique work. Also Google your model number and there are forum groups with that machine out there that are big helps.

Good Luck

Thanks, Jana. I will look again at the screen for the presser foot pressure and see if I can figure it out. I also have the 1/4" foot, but I still move my needle over a tiny bit to the right to get a scant 1/4".
