Quilt in a Day Forums

I am new here today. I have a wonderful quilt top made of 1 1/2" squares made by a friend who gave it to me years ago. The fabrics are great and strong. It is bordered with a wonderful calico. I was wondering where I might send this quilt to be quilted. Also, I don't really know the proceedure on something like this. Do you send the top, batting and backing? What about binding the quilt. THis one would be a lap size and I would not require anything fancy as far as the quilting. I am also looking for someone that might be interested in making a lap quilt for me (there is a very special and somewhat long story) as to why I would love a cornerstones lap quilt. This is my first day as a member here (sometimes a sinus infection and fluid in the lung can be a good thing as it kept me home today, and I found all of you). Thank you all so very much

(Hi* Chrissy1. I just wanted to welcome you. I believe there are quite a few expert quilters here in this forum. I am sure one of the other ladies will reply to you with a lot more info then I would be able to give you. I am a Extreme newby to the world of quilting for others, LOL or even for myself. And it will take years for me prolly to be able to quilt for someone else.

LOL, I don't even dare to put a quiltop made by myself on my long arm.

I would be honored to quilt your top for you and I do custom quit top assembly as well.
My name is Peggi and I live in Michigan. Most of us charge about the same for pantograph - that's a pattern of design sewn all over the quilt top.

The going rate is 1 cent per square inch to quilt. A 60 inch by 80 inch quilt is 60 X 80 = 480 square inches. 480 X 1 cent = 48 dollars. Be sure to plan on postage costs - I don't charge handling.
You can send the top, batting and back OR you can let me provide those last two items at my cost. So the most you would pay would be $11 for batting and $36 for backing IF it is a really big quilt. And my last two king sized that I shipped ran about $18 postage

If you go to your local quilt shop, you will find business cards from longarm quilters in your area. I'm a longarm quilter from Wisconsin and give the quilt stores my cards. That's how I get most of my business. I wouldn't send your quilt away to someone you haven't met. It's better to stay local, ask around for recommendations, and you'll find somebody in no time.
