Got a serger today!

Post by TexasSewGal » Sun Mar 30, 2008 4:29 pm

It's a Singer brand line and I got it at a garage sale for $40. I brought it homw and got it running. Works good. Now I just have to figure out what I wanted it so badly for!!! Thinking about making a pair of pants. Anyone got any ideas?

No ideas but wanted to congratulate you on your Serger. That sounds like a very good deal. Hope you will enjoy it! Anxious to hear what your first project on it will be.

Hugs

the serger not only finishes the seams to make them look profesional but it reinforces the seams. the serger is very helpful when you have fabric that ravels easy. I love mine

I have had my babylock serger for about 12 years and used to use it all the time when I sewed outfits for my daughters. I don't do much clothing anymore but I still pull it out every so often to make different gift items. They are great for reinforcing seams and I have used it to make tote bags and purses for myself and DD's.

What a find. I'm waiting for the woman down the street to give me hers. Hope she knows I want it, I've mentioned it enough.

It's great for straight seams on clothes. I have also used mine for peicing together a log cabin quilt or any type of strip quilt where the 1/4" seam is not so critical. Have fun with it!

I used mine recently to make a flannel lap quilt. I really liked the seams finished because flannel is so prone to fraying.

You will find tons of uses for the serger. It is not the machine I use the most but sure like having one. Jo Ann

I made Wheel Chair bags with my serger for a hospital. It sewed them up beautifully and quickly too. Works great! Enjoy yours!!

Works great for baby and toddler knit jammies... makes nice secure seams! Also those little sock slippers are awesome and very easy, they also make great gifts... I think they were called toasty toes(or something like that) Enjoy your new machine!

Cheers!
